A courteous word about LGBT representation

They should just make everyone gay. Add in a story beat that makes the player character canonically gay. Make the animals and the trees and the rivers and the winds gay. Make the skybox one big rainbow flag. Make all the enemy factions from here on out a thinly veiled metaphor for the LAPD

Furcadia already exists.

Yes, and we can have Furcadia-lite here.
I’ll take more furries over elves any day of the week.

I save reports for people who do something particularly heinous. Usually explicit, obvious slurs and the like.

The user from two days ago who said death to anti-lgbt people, not only is his post still up, but he got to make additional posts of violence and nothing happened to him. This is an example that not all reports are made equal.

How was it badly done?
Why is it “forced wokeness”?

Because the game has been forced sleeps since 2007 I guess?

The game is either sleeps or yokes. I don’t know what these words mean anymore

I’m gladly answer this. From a game’s perspective, if it’s a recurrent theme to shove an ideology into everyone’s mouth, then it’s not representation but pandering.

And while it makes it the LGBT-community “happy”, it isn’t the right amount of representation. It is “Schadenfreude”, which means enjoying the misery of others. In other words, these people are not part of the LGBT-community and haven’t learned anything about representation.

If you want to see good representation, then watch Legend of Korra or Steven Universe. WoW failed as a medium to deliver LGBT-representation with dignity by making it blatantly obvious by taking very significant characteristics which are seen as offensive or forcing an idea which is rather a pattern but not a concept.

Eeeeeh, those are not good examples. They’re also forced. Korra moreso. Steven Universe was gay out the gate, so it has more justification for it.

Imo:
Korra worked, because of the titular character’s bisexuality.
Steven Universe works, because they are illuminated AI-beings which have only one sex.

This is because heterosexual couples are “normal” so of course it wouldn’t feel shoved down your throat. If it were changed to a gay couple then suddenly it becomes “forced” and “pandering”?

The fact that this bothers so many people is just ridiculous.

I am perpetually grateful that the hoi polloi does not write for large productions.

Going to be 100% honest, I don’t know how it can show up in any medium WITHOUT being forced. Well, overt, maybe forced isn’t the right word for it. The fact is that, when looking at an individual, there is nothing that distinguishes someone as LGBT. It has to be said, told, or shown. The only way to show it in game is to pretty much overtly announce it when you talk to an NPC or something along those lines.

What ideology do you refer to? A gay side quest? Or the company trying to facilitate a more inclusive environment?

If I wanted to make a bad faith argument, I could sit here and type long whinded nonsense about bikini armor and the “male gaze” about how this game perpetuates the ideology of womanizing the living daylights out of every character but i’m not going to do that.

This is basically like seeing a cat minding its own business out in the wild and going “look!!! politics!!!”

I don’t want to hear about people’s marriages in a fantasy game unless it involves the King’s future heir.

Korra is not bisexual in anyway. I don’t like people thinking that just cause she’s a toned testosterone-fill avatar female that it means she likes to eat carpet. She was on the nuts of all the guys she was interested in until the very last second of the series. It was contrived to all hell.

Steven Universe was written for that crowd. The sex thing was just convenient tropes so they can make everything more of that weird liberal androgynous trend they enjoy in their works.

lol u funny

Yeah uh hate to break it to you but Korra IS bi.
Some bi folks have a pref towards one gender, but it doesn’t make them any less Bi.

Also, have you considered the reason we only got that glimpse of Korra being bi at the end was because of the network and those above the showrunners, who ultimately call the shots on what can and can’t be aired/put into it?

No she isn’t. Cause there never was any of that shown in the show. Ever. Cause you’re right. It’s a cartoon show about kung fu magicians. And the only relationship we saw was hers with a guy. Which is normal.

I understand from where you’re coming from but cis is the majority and the reason how our species is held up for now. By angering them you simply try to step into a hornets nest.

Korra’s bisexuality was hinted in the third season but they couldn’t go all in.

Yes, Rebecca Sugar is …some kind of sexuality? I don’t remember it. But their sexuality isn’t the focus and when it’s a topic, then it’s about characters one cares.
