I like most stuff about dragonflight like the talents and the raids, but the story and theme sucks. These dang cartoon characters and flamboyant human characters are unbearable.
To this date I have enjoyed Enhancement as a class, the world art, and Zaralek cavern.
I am not a fan of the cleave/aoe rotations, button bloat, and mutliple resource bars to watch. I am not a fan of the go go go playstyle WoW has become. I prefer critical thinking gameplay over what we have today.
My complaints are that that this is not my favorite M+ dungeon pool and I’m sure next week is gonna be worse if they don’t aggressively tune it asap as well as some talent trees sucking donkey balls, especially my main class which is Mage.
How can I say this, thinking about strategy over just what to burn first and what to prevent to go off. Critical thinking can include that as well but more options, proactive or use of reactive such as CC, Pulling, Pet OT, etc. We are now just seeing how much trash we can handle until boss or with boss.
That is just my take, Shaman issue is entirely different. I am enjoying the physical builds over Elementalist. Tab target a mess of mobs or using addons for better plates to manage flames for max lighting is not fun. I do not consider that fast pace. I consider that an issue with their UI that has to be improved by an addon.
I like dragon flight but the one thing I don’t like about it is the new gearing system a little bit.
I think it’s a great concept but too many flight stones and then them being enchanted etc it makes it slightly confusing on where to get items from and how to do everything.
Yeah, the fact that I have to use a reference chart to keep everything in order is very concerning…and we don’t even have access to all of the gear tiers yet.
Except now you still make decisions, you just do it faster.
Proactive CC was not a form of critical thinking. It became an automated process that largely trivialized things.
The elementalist build is a bit more complicated, and requires a little more of the “critical thinking” to do efficiently. Compared to the physical builds.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this - is Dragonflight really lacking or am I just finally burned out from WoW for good?
On paper this expansion is ideal. No borrowed power, good class design, accessible PvP, reworked profession. It’s practically MoP again during which I had the most fun. Yet for some reason I’m not happy.
I was so looking towards doing casual PvP regularly, but when I tried it, I realized that I’m just not enjoying that kind time spending. The solo PvE hamster wheel is quite transparent to me now as well. Without social aspect, and I have no one to play with, there is really no motivation to participate in it. But that’s all that has been in WoW forever, it’s not about the game being bad.
Probably the only real criticism I have is that professions seem to be too complicated. It used to be so that you could more or less reach a good proficiency in a given profession and sell consumables and earn passive gold. But this expansion you have to be specced very specifically to be able to make anything useful. Like, for example, I have enchanting, and I would always earn some passive income from various common enchants, but this expansion I have to be specced very specifically to reach each one of them.
It seems to me that the new profession system is very nice when it comes to big crafting. i.e. blacksmithing armorcrafting or weaponcrafting. Even in classic, that kind of big crafting has always been about specializing in certain way. But it completely misses the mark with mass consumables crafting. Or at least I couldn’t figure it out,
For now I am just maining Mining and Enchanting for Disenchanting.
It feels messy without good nameplates and WA. Especially when groups begin to pull loads of trash. I have gotten use to it but physical just feels more fluent. I still need to test the gamba build. Watch Zuco use it on YT seems interesting once you get tier bonus.
I hate these new professions. It’s another weekly thing to baby sit.
Blizzard will never stop locking stuff behind limited resources will they? Trading Post is all the same. I’m glad it’s there but it still doesn’t compare to how FF14 offers its content.
Mythic+
For me this is probably the most intimidating game mode in WoW due to the amount of studying that’s required and the timer doesn’t give me much time to absorb the knowledge I’m trying to learn. This game mode needs to either be more rewarding or more accessible. I lean towards more rewarding. Mythic+ should have its own transmog set as well as an additional mount on par with the gladiator mounts for those who make it through the highest keys.
The Setting
It’s difficult to put my thumb on exactly why the setting of Dragonflight doesn’t quite do it for me. But while leveling alts there is something about expansions like Legion and even WoD that have this edgier atmosphere that appeals more to me. The setting is also the thing I see mentioned the most as a downside by players who think Dragonflight is otherwise a good expansion.
