A challenge to the devs

I’m challenging the devs to buff warlocks.

The deal is simple. Buff warlocks, if it break the class roll it back and we will pretend that it never happened.

What buffs? IDK go crazy man.
Edit: at start I was just making a point. Today I feel like giving real suggestions on buffs specific to destro. Other specs feel free to say anything (since we won’t will get any of this)

  • Give us 10% buff on CB. Totally reasonable, won’t will break in pvp/raid/m+. If it gets close to break the class when we reach bigger status trough the higher ilvl equipments just nerf it back. At the moment the skill even worth to cast. It’s our main damage but we don’t cast it enough to a 10% buff hurt anything on the balance dynamics.

  • Buff 10% CDF, it’s our main M+ damage, the skill works pretty good in small and big packs, but not enough, it need to have a higher base damage so critical damages can make a difference. At the current states we spent a whole dynamic to use it, thinking in the right moment to cast, so we don’t have to move or anything, and the reward is some awfully small damage. And maybe it turns useful in pvp.

  • Buff 12% ROF, again, we need this for be viable on m+. For real? If we get 10% on this and CDF we will still get behind in AOE damage, so what’s the problem? And again, if it brake totally the spec, just roll it back. And it would give us some elements on pvp to force the enemy to move out of the area. Let’s get real on this damage, the skill consume 3 chards, why it hits so low?

  • Havoc should get +3 seconds duration without the legendary. This again will bring us a good improve damage. More dps in 2+ target cleaves, more chard regeneration in pve and pvp. And havoc shouldn’t have GCD at all.

  • Our stun need to get a lower cast time, a small buff like -0.35s on cast would be really appreciated in pve and pvp.

  • Better infernalist procs, recently I got like 27% haste status and tough the procs wold be better, but they don’t. So I use like 3/4 ROF to one prc. And the infernalist uptime need some buff too. Give us like 4% more procs and +2 seconds uptime.

  • Give us some reduced damage after using teleport. Something like 5 seconds with 30% less damage.

  • The warlock portal need to be instant or have faster cast. We can’t use it in arenas, and on mythic+ we lost damage in some paca bcs we need to move before the group to set portals, and we don’t have enough damage to lost precious cast time in the pacs.

  • Tune our covenant habs, that drain life in NF doesn’t work, it even worth to use in any situation.

Here are some thoughts for Affliction.

  • GCD of Instant Dots reduced by .5 seconds
  • Unending Resolve Cooldown reduced to 1.5 Min
  • Dark Pact - Shield value now based off Maximum Health rather than current health. This should be more competitive with Soul Leech.
  • Casting Maelific Rapture reduces the Cast time of your next MR Cast by .2 seconds
  • Creeping Agony Talent delivers 15% more damage on DoT effects rather than shorten duration to help with MR interaction.
  • Deathbolt Shard Cost reduced to 2 Shards to compete with Rapid Contagion as your final offensive PvP Talent. Cooldown reduced to 30 Seconds.
  • Essence Drain - Also extends the duration of any DOT by 1 second. Lockouts occured while channeling essence drain are only 50% effective.
    This should make this pvp talent competitive with Deathbolt and Rapid Contagion as both a dps choice and also a survivability choice. This also will have the side effect of giving locks a second legendary choice for PvP (Drain life legendary)

this alone would be huge.

Its insane how as affliction, by the time i have finshed putting up full dots, Im only 2-3 seconds away from having to refresh the first dot I put up, due to GCD’s on EVERY SINGLE ABILITY(cept teleport) , and long cast times lots of my spells.

Soul Rot should be instant and off GCD, and so should phantom singularity, and they should be made to have the same cooldown so you can use them together.

MAybe reduce soul rot CD to 30 seconds and increase PS cd to 30 seconds. this could make it so you could macro them together with corruption or Agony, and every 30 seconds you could cast UA → DoT Macro and get 4 dots up in 1.5 seconds.

As it is man… siphon life, haunt, soul rot, phanto singularity, UA, agony and corruption? thats insane bro. thats like…10 seconds? 9 seconds? of raw time just getting stuff up on a single target?

its crazy how even damage cooldowns like dark soul, amplify curse, bane of fragility, bane of shadows, and rapid contagion, are ALSO on the GCD. Thats effing redonculous.

Like in any high rated arena, they see you popping cd’s, because it takes like 3-4 GCD’s to get ur damage cd’s out, and they will instantly stun/silence/control you until all ur damage is done.

Even defensives like demon armour and nether ward are on the GCD!

Bring back curse of elements as a 12% magic damage debuff for destruction warlocks as a baseline.

Allow immolate and incinerate to be cast while moving.

Make grimoire of sacrifice proc more often for destruction spells similar to afflictions rate.

Give us back the artifact dimensional portals as a baseline spell but rather than randomizing its spell have it “copy” the last spell cast. Replace bane with this if you have to.

Creeping Agony would be a nice talent to tune to a competitive state. I don’t think 15% more DoT damage would do it though. DoTs are a small portion of our overall damage right now, like strangely small. I honestly think you would have to double the amount you suggested to even start a conversation.

The current talent is pretty much a masochists dream because we’re already spamming DoTs to refresh them. You might literally GCD cap on DoTs alone with the current corruption and SL durations.

Demonology,

  • Tyrant needs to be instant cast
  • Grimoire: Felguard changed to 1.5 min CD, down from 2 min
  • Demonbolt 10% - 20% buff.
  • increase % we get Demonic Core Procs from Wild Imps to help with mobility
  • HoG goes back to applying a DoT on impact, strength is determined with how many soulshards spent.
  • Greenfire effects applied to Demonbolt!!

For all specs,
Healthstone heals for 25% and a further 10% over 10 seconds for the Warlock only.

honestly i think they should rework demonic calling talent a bit in tandem with making call dreadstalkers instant baseline.

With it being instant baseline, I would make demonic calling refresh the cd and reduce the cost to free when it procs.

I would also like to see Grimoire of Sacrifice be brought back for demo but reworked slightly. Basically, You have to sacrifice a demon other than the felguard and gain a bonus like we did back in the day to different things. This bonus can be kept as long as you only summon a Felguard as your primary pet, summoning any other pet gets rid of the GoSac.
Imp increases fire damage and grants you the blood pact aura that we all used to love. Voidwalker grants Max hp and causes your unending resolve to heal you for a percentage of your health every second for 8 seconds. Succubus increases Shadow damage by a percentage and causes your shadowbolts to be instant cast. And last but not least Felhunter, reduces damage taken from magical sources by a percentage and grants your Call Dreadstalkers spell the ability to purge 1 magical effect from a target when cast.

I like the Demonic calling idea, but Grimoire Sacrifice idea only makes sense if we were able to have a second demon/Felguard baseline.

Blizzard will never allow us to double dip, but in saying that your idea for unending resolve to heal over time I love…that should be a stand alone idea.

We literally have one of the worst defensives across all classes, outside of mortal coil, which is a must pick talent really in high end content, we have drain life…I havnt casted drain life in years… no one uses it…

It’s a great spell thematically, but in practice it isn’t good, stand still to heal, channel, no good PvE wise, maybe bake the two together or not, but love the idea it gives us a HoT.

That’s why I suggested earlier, Healthstones heal us the standard 25% and ontop another 10 % over time, just for us though.

Well the idea for Grimoire of Sacrifice was that Demonology could specifically bring the bonuses of an extra demon without actually having a 2nd one to control, we already have enough as it is.

As for healthstone, I think they should make it so that warlocks can use it every minute regardless of the garbage encounter rule crap. Let everyone else deal with that, we should be able to eat our cookies everytime they come off cd. Currently in a pvp setting if you want to be able to use your healthstone again, you have to literally drop combat.

I agree so much, due to our lack of defensives we should, literally we have one, I think it’s ridiculous other classes and specs double down on this cause of Warlocks yet we don’t get any other added benefit.

Also want to mention, Warlocks should have 2 Felguards… we are a pet class more focused around Demons then other specs… we should be the equivalent of a BM Hunter.

And everything on Demonology needs buffing. How bout real interrupts, and real Stun and Movement impairing, escapes.

The Graphics on Demonology are cool but it’s all show. I saw the same middle-to-low, so-so damage result in Time walking dungeons Me at ilvl 183.

I mainly play Demo for PvE content and Aff for PvP.
I wont be talking about Aff here as i think others who main it have a better understanding of it. Anyway on to Demo ideas.

  • Make Demonic tyrant Instant cast. I see this a lot and it makes sense in the current state of WoW. If they are hesitant on doing that reduce the soul shard gen to 3 or something. Generation of 5 is better but hey “trade-offs”.

  • Since blizz likes the idea of corruption being back, make Hand of gul’dan apply corruption passively like it did before. it applies corruption to a number of targets up to the number of soul shards used on the cast. or apply to all targets and reduce the damage corruption does for Demo to compensate.

  • Take the Master Summoner Talent in PvP and make it baseline. Like come on Call Dreadstalker’s itself is basically insta cast most of the time with Demonic Calling. I also like the idea of changing it to a reset of Call Dreadstalkers and free.

  • Here is something I saw once but have not seen it since. Change Summon Vilefiend to be a second pet. Keep the Soul Shard cost for it. The damage might need to be reduced some as it is now permanent. Have it follow orders like with BM hunters and have it follow the Felguard around. This then makes it a choice between Soul Strike for more Shard Gen and quicker felguard swap or a second pet that moves around. From the Shadows is for the Doggo build so that’s the trade off. This would then passively buff/side-grade to Demonic Consumption and Sacrificed Souls as there is another demon always around.

  • Now since Blizz is either going to do #WarlockStables or not, adding a few more glyths is “fine” but one I thought of would be something for the Wild Imps. For example Glyth of Wild Summons, When your Wild Imps are summoned some of the Imps will be instead Fel bats or other small demons. They would essentially act exactly the same as Wild Imps in all respects. Just a change to bring more of that Summoner aspect.

  • Now for the last controversial idea. Bring back Grimoire of Supremacy have it replace i don’t know…Grimorie: Felguard? Nether portal? Doom? Now other Locks will complain about it clashing with their spec. I don’t think it does as the darkglare is part of Aff and the infernal is for Destro. The grimorie has a Doomguard and an Abyssal different demons. But what about Ritual of Doom? That’s a spell people cast?? I never have nor will I. It should have never comeback. Edit: Or it instead transforms the felguard into a Fel Lord. Buffing its survivability and damage. Would be neat.

Now for the defensive front, Unending resolve is…alright… I would like it to add stun to the immunity but eh. For a “second” defensive just have healthstone have a 1 min cd out of combat and a 1.5 min cd while in combat only for the lock. On the other hand have Dark Pact moved to base line and have a talent replace it. The legendary, Pillars of the Dark Portal comes to mind. Either remove or keep the knockback effect doesn’t matter to me. Just an idea though.

My 2 pet Felguard idea… tiny little rework on talents and Tyrant, really home into being a master summoner.

Realistically I feel like Shadowlands be another poor expansion for Demonology, nothing major happens until prepatch outside of aura buffs or spell buffs… but we can still Dream.

Nice points about demonology. I think considering the historic on previous expansions that they never change enterly talent lines, probably because its hard to make it work in a single thursday reset. So talking about reducing cds and improove damage are more effective on this point of the game.

Heres a challenge. Buff demonology without giving direct % damage buffs so the spec feels better to play.

Remove the cast time on Dreadstalkers
Remove the cast time on Vile fiend
Remove the cast time Shadowfury
Remove the cast time on Tyrant
Lower the CD of grim FelG to 1.5 minutes to match Tyrant
Fix Soul strike CD to go lower with haste
Make Doom back to its legion iteration and passively be applied by Hand of Guldan so its not useless for the 2nd expansion in a row.
Make Inner Demons spawn other secondary demons based off not RNG, such as our crit or mastery %.
Make Nether Portal not useless for the 2nd expansion in a row. Have it properly spawn demons based on soul shards spent finally.

Another tuesday without destro getting fixed. Sad.

Destro needs way more than a Tuesday fix mate. You and I both know it.
Demo could be propped up on a Tuesday (until the next content patch) but destro needs a ground up rewrite.

We can’t affrod a rework at this point on the spec. All te things i suggest in the post is tottaly plausible and can be made in a simple reset. And i doubt they will do anything.
