A case for SoD TBC

Hello, just looking to drum up some noise or support for a tbc SoD or SoD-like version.

Theres 2 ways I would love to see it happen

1.) Dont increase the level cap and let us in outland. (could be leveling catch up zones or what ever convert a couple dungeons into raids and then just let us go.) minimal development, just balance everything for lvl 60 sod characters.

2.) Do what put sod on the map and have different level caps (64, 68, 70 etc…) with new level up raids (hellsure citadel, coil fang reservoir etc…) This way the content can be worked on as its being released.

Anyway, id love to hear your ideas to keep SoD going

#saveSOD #keepSODalive

No more level caps please besides the max level

It causes issues with gearing and the power creep. We all remember going from gnomer to st to pre mc gear.

Oh really? I thought the lvl 25 tier was peak SoD so im kinda into the idea of doing it again.Oh really? I thought the lvl 25 tier was peak SoD so im kinda into the idea of doing it again.

How would you deal with talent trees?

You don’t, lol.

I’d argue it would be better to have less talent points in a post-TBC talent tree as it would introduce more choices for builds.

The one thing i really liked about TBC and Wrath was a lot more spec options :sob:

Well yeah but if we were to get TBC talents right now, you would have the option to go down a single talent tree, or go for more hybrid builds which would generate more build choices overall.

bruh dont act like everyone wouldn’t just use the same meta build

Then by the same logic, why have talent trees at all?

Many people say this in defense of the removal of talent trees for the mop ones

I guess they could combine some or make them take less than 5pt or something interesting too.

Yeah, and they’re all wrong. It’s Blizz’s job to balance things so different builds are somewhat equal.

But even if they don’t, the illusion of choice is better than no choice at all.

In the level 60 option, i would say just dont. Just keep it as is and balance it around current output levels, in the event of actually level to 70, im not sure. Lots would have to change.

I never did, maybe by coincidence some of mine were close but I think all of my toons were at one point max respec price, I was constantly respeccing trying new things. It was so much fun.

Raising level caps is a bad idea in any MMO.

Go look at Retail, how many raids are there. Verse how many raids are ‘current content’.

That’s why I say, “the more expansions there are the less there is to do”.

The level cap should remain at 60. And mob scaling should be added. Basically do what ESO did. Level 50 has been the cap since release…back in 2014.

Where’s the progression you ask? Gear Sets; new sets are introduced that add quirks to how your build can be played. And new zones, with said new sets.

…imagine the whole of Azeroth there for you to play instead of 3 zones (WG, Sil, EPL) and 2 raids (Naxx, SE); on your main.

New trees or add something like Veteran levels in a new tree.

Do you play SoD? Rogues are currently using a whole slew of builds, almost everything is viable. I’ve never played a version of WoW in 20 years where there’s so many gear/weapon/spec options that are all within 2-3% of each other.

I’ve got a guildy using Duplicity/Deception and putting out orange parses. I’m using 2p/4p/2p and just put up a 100 parse focusing entirely on SSL damage while also being the IEA Rogue. There’s Rogues putting out high dps using an interesting BS/SSL weaving spec with daggers. Rogues with 3p AQ10 and Rogues dropping that 3p to use a fast OH like THC or Frostwyrm to focus on instant poison damage. All these builds are in the top 10 on fights.

Thats a good point. I would love to see a a guild wars 2-esk version of wow that just adds content and sideways progession. Although, i dont know how popular that approach is.
