A Bunch of Idiots, safespotting and griefing

so this is the best horde guild on Faerlina? what a joke. I know you not supposed to give names on forums but i really don’t care (blizzard doesn’t care either) since removed got reported for safespotting and griefing by at least 15-20 players and he’s still doing it.

Safespotting is hilarious.

The thing I’ve never got about “safespot griefing” is that generally speaking they’re confined to a small area and can’t really chase you. Just run away. Or if you die, spawn 30yd from your body, turn around, and run away. The only people who get griefed in these situations are the ones who just stand there and die over and over again as some vain act of defiance.

Don’t get me wrong, I thinks it’s scummy as hell, and generally involves 1 shotting lowbies which isn’t really my jam, but man, in the 12 or 13 years I’ve spent playing this game, I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been killed by a “safespot griefer”.

Just turn around
Run away
Do something else that doesn’t involve standing around doing nothing in a random town

I agree, the only exception I could see being if it overlooked a vendor with rare plans, as I’ve seen someone suggest there is such a spot. Beyond that it’s pretty easy to avoid.

good point, somebody is breaking the rules and we just have to walk away. I hope you don’t do that IRL if you see a kid bullied

Well then I guess don’t sit there for hours on end like a degenerate rat spamming a macro. It’s not like he’ll get the pattern either while standing in his spot unless he’s floor hacking or something. If anything he’s doing the legitimate plan campers a favour by clearing out some of the bots (if he’s doing it to protect his own bot that’s a whole other list of tos violations).

Btw, the source of this frustration, being killed on your way to questgivers/flightpoints/inns/repair vendors/etc, is only going to get worse when the honor system is added. Except they won’t be safespotting, and running away will be even more difficult because they won’t be confined to a rooftop.

It’s not going to get better.

You can still report. The same way someone being bullied can report it. However, the person being bullied has a responsibility to his/herself to do whatever they can to avoid harm.

let me get this straight, let’s say you are level 44 and you want to do ZF, you go in Gadgetzan INN to get some rested xp until you find a group and somebody kills you over and over inside the inn, in your opinion that’s ok

It’s not okay to safe spot, but it’s 100% your fault if you choose to get camped over and over in a vain effort to get 3 mobs worth of rested XP.

In your example your could literally just kill mobs anywhere in Tanaris and get more xp. Or if you plan on being AFK for a bit, you can just log off in the inn. I really don’t get your point here.

i bet it’s a joy to be around you  didn’t expect a different answer from you. Have a nice day and God bless your little heart

“you are a loser and it was really easy to kill you” level 60 lock safespotting a rogue who want’s to smelt :))))))) soda my friend what you got into?

you Sir…it’s all good i’m pretty sure there are some people around who loves you, just belive

I think you don’t understand the post, safespotting is when you’re in an area with guards or somewhere you can’t be attacked but you can attack players. So you can basically sit there as a ranged dps and kill whoever you see while you’re immune to damage or attacks from guards. This is not the same as being camped in the world.

Winter spring and gadgetzan both have spots like this. And players do you get suspended all the time for this. It’s not “blizzlike”. This guy will probably eventually get suspended or banned after a while. I had one guy I saw who was doing it at lights hope and he just got messaged from a Gm and told him to stop or face much more severe consequences.

I know what safe spotting is. I don’t condone it and do think players should report them and Blizzard should take action.

That being said, it’s really not that impactful when you can simply run away after your first death. Is it annoying? Yes, definitely. Is it game breaking? Hardly.

Unless there’s a situation that I’m not thinking of that would require someone to constantly stay in range of a safe spotter getting killed over and over, you can simply walk away after the first death.

So you don’t think it should be done and be reported? But you also think it’s not that big of a deal or not impactful to gameplay? Nothing gets done in either yard when you sit on the fence.

Your line of logic doesn’t make sense. I think it should be reported. I’m not sitting on the fence.

But dwelling on it, getting triggered, or sitting in one spot getting killed over and over makes no sense. My point is that you can just report and walk away.

So why is using a mechanic Blizzard intentionally programmed in to the game a horrific thing worthy of a ban? I’m not even talking the no roof thing where there isn’t pathing. If you attack people outside of the guards LoS, they won’t aggro, it’s working as intended. Either you are on a PvP server where it shouldn’t be an issue, or you are on a PvE server where you have the option to unflag, either way you chose to be in the state your were in.

People need to get thicker skin.

It definitely makes sense. If it’s reportable, it’s impactful. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to report it. Regardless of running away when a player shouldn’t have to. (That’s why it’s impactful).

This is also a good point. Unless someone got to a spot by an exploit, you can make your way up to them and kill them.

If your argument is that you’re a low level and they’re maxed, then it’s no different than if a 60 kills a lowbie out in the open world.

Is it bad form? Probably. But that’s how the game is.

So the impact is that you have to run 30 yards away or keep in mind where they are make sure to LOS them? That’s hardly an impact.

Going and killing a quest giver is far more impactful than this is and that’s completely within TOS/normal boundaries of the game.

But… but… my righteous indignation
