A brand new PVE player! What do I do?

So I am joining retail while still enjoying the classic versions of course, but PVP has exhausted me to a high degree, and class imbalances are not helping. So I am trying PVE for real this time and I been having a blast lately, just finished Redridge Mountains Questing achievement and I had so much fun I feel guilty for liking retail this much!

So my question is, what should I do and what activities should I indulge in? What does the PVE player do daily in retail WoW I see tons of stuff but I don’t know where to start?

Just keep doing what you’re doing, find another achievement and get it done! Not a bad way to level up.

If you really enjoy the story aspect of the game, you could aim for Loremaster for the current expansion or prior expansions. There are tons of fun stories to play through in the various zones which often have their climax in the dungeon (or raid) for that zone. Most older dungons and raids can be run solo at higher levels so you can take your time with soaking up the atmosphere and watching any mid-instance cinematics. Of course, group PVE content can be fun at times, too, but your mileage can vary greatly, depending on the playstyle of others in the group.

If you do plan on playing through old zone questlines, I recommend that you play through Gilneas as a newly created Worgen character and then experience the second half of that story in Silverpine Forest as a Forsaken (or any other Horde character) with the two-zone story ending in Shadowfang Keep dungeon.

EDIT: Note that the Burning Crusade/Outland questing is pretty much the oldest in the game now (since the Cataclysm revamp of EK and Kalimdor), so it can be a bit of a slog to play through it if you decide to attempt it.

Once you hit lv30 you could lock your level and do areas within that range without being hounded to go to BfA or is it SL now(?) Ive seen many people do that Zone Locked challenge which is kinda cool or do what you want like Battle Pet stuff, farm Tmog, run dungeons/raids even the endless maze of M+

Why feel guilty for liking retail? It’s the more popular version for a reason!

I’m a new player this year and my goal was to hit 10,000 achievement points by years end. I’m halfway and probably won’t make it, but it’s been fun.

To be fair on myself, I started July 31st.

Welcome to the game! I hope it brings you as many years of enjoyment as it has done for me. Don’t ever let the complainers get to you. If you’re having fun with the game, that’s all that really matters.
