Been looking for something to encase my entire computer in so it will muffle the sound of all the fans and cannot find one online, any suggestions?
Might as well just turn the fans off if putting your computer in a box is your plan
The front and back would still be open for air, it’s just one of the sides of the computer case is glass and doesn’t do a good job when it comes to keeping it quiet…
Suggestion? Don’t.
The sound they make is either mechanical noise (usually not much these days) or the actual sound of the air flowing through them. So if you dampen the noise you’re probably also choking the fans, which means you could get the same basic results - for free - by turning them down or off.
If you must use something, a sheet of MDF (probably 3/4") between you and the case will deaden some of the sound without having a negative impact on cooling. Some basic A-frame type supports would be a good idea to keep it upright and prevent it sagging due to moisture. Add bitumen if it’s still not dense enough.
Alternatively, larger fans tend to have a deeper, less perceptible sound to them. Re-fit your case accordingly.
*ed: A shroud, rather than a box, is what you’re referring to. I guess that would work. It’s much the same effect as the panel I was talking about only more contained. You could probably get away with sticking some bitumen to the glass.

is my computer if ya’ll are wondering what I have, have to throw it in code since the new forums says i cant post links yet…
Edited just for you Kagthul you happy now?
Thats a computer. Not a CPU.
I googled “pc muffler” and found this (older) guide to build one yourself.
https://www.overclockers.com/building-a-pc-muffler/
While it looks terrible, I’m sure you could easily build something using the same principles and a little more time that looks much better
Also, just get better fans
I probably will if WoW ever gives me another reason to spend anymore money on a computer for their game…
Edited just for you Kagthul, feel better now?
… its not a CPU.
This is a CPU:

And you’re going to spend way more money trying to “muffle” your fans than just getting better fans from someone like Noctua, BeQuiet! or EK.
Why are your fans so loud
InWin sells a solid side panel for the 303: https://estore.in-win.com/us/en/product/spare-parts/303-side-panel_secc
it’s probably that tiny AIO liquid cooler. And whats with those 3 side fans? What exactly are they blowing air over? Are they intake fans? That leaves just your AIO and PSU (maybe) to exhaust?
Ditch the CPU cooler for a quality air tower cooler, and try to set all your fan profiles to silent (assuming they are PWM). Maybe turn off one of them.
Actually, I take back. Throw away that dumb case and buy a decent one + an air cooler and you’ll probably notice a difference right away.
Do you manually control your fan speeds or have them set to run automatically?
I always manually set mine to where I’m getting decent cooling and it’s not to loud. Usually while gaming my OC’d 1070 TI and 8700K never go over 65C.
assuming you are running your fans on molex where they are at 100% speed all time?
I have a dg-7 series case which has seethroguh side and even if all 6 case fans are at 50% i wont hear them (case is 2 1/2 ft from head even)
also if u need to soundproof case you could try some actual sound dampening material made for it and attach it to the side of case. (msot are just stuck on to the case with an adhesive on em and cut to side)
google is your friend.
It appears as if I cannot change the speed of the 3 fans at the top that are for my graphics card…

Damn their no link shìt is annoying…
PS. I went ahead and bought the solid side panel, thanks Pommura for the link!
