A bit of a warning for anyone using SSD's at 240 GB or less

The next windows update coming in may, they bumped the minimum requirements for Windows 10

Previously used to be 20 GB for 64 bit OS (which we all use I hope)

but now its being bumped to 32 GB as the minimum

now I used to own a 128 GB SSD and that was fine for Windows 10 and WoW during MoP (Windows 8.1 at the time) and Warlords of Draenor

but coming Legion I was close to running out of space, and all I had was windows 10 and WoW on it only

Not sure how its like for BfA today on a 128 GB SSD, so I think maybe there would be an issue trying to update for those who have those small SSDs

240 GB owners, should be fine but it doesn’t hurt to get a bigger SSD since they are cheap these days

So much bloat…

Ubuntu Linux is like 4 gigs for a full install… but unfortunately I couldn’t get everything running like I wanted to, so back to windows until something breaks.

Not that the size REALLY matters to me, I usually install the OS on on of my 2 500 gig ones and merge the other 500 and the 2 250s into one single drive

Ever tried Reborn OS, its Arch Linux but much easier to use

No, I haven’t.

I can try it out, but my main issue was some of the games I like to play don’t play well with WINE and aren’t supported by the new steam thing.

I got WoW to work with Reborn OS. made a thread about it long time ago

WoW actually works quite great, couldn’t get twitch working which annoyed me lol.

But my FFXIV install was wonky and you can’t use any game with a secondary anti-cheat like Easy Anticheat.

Try Lutris

What I used for WoW

Lutris does work good, just didn’t work well for my particular install for some reason haha

18.04 LTS bare server (which doesn’t have any graphics) install is like 3.5 GB. Add on your GUI of choice, basic apps and their dependencies (which may explain why things are randomly broke for you), and you’re looking at around 8-10GB.

But honestly, SSD prices have crashed down hard. Brand new 500GB can be had for $50 and 1TB is around $100.

Nah, there’s just some games I play that just WON’T run on linux atm, because things like Easy Anti-cheat don’t run or other issues.

Dang, from reading /r/pcmasterrace, they’re always convinced this would be the year of Linux on the desktop!

We’re getting there, steam is helping a bunch, and I’ve heard that they’re talking to EAC guys about getting EAC running on linux.
