Edit: Because so many people think this is some elitist boogie man post, I don’t want to use third party websites, I want tools in game for myself, I genuinely don’t care about the dps of other players. I want to know my kicks amount, my damage breakdown, my crit % and highest crits and my buff up times.
I am stating that in an effort to simplify the game with less addons, blizzard is “forcing” players to use external tools and websites to log and check said logs to access information that previously was much more user friendly and done entirely in game with an addon, details.
As annoying as this is to type I really think this is going to be the case.
If blizzard cannot replicate details 1 to 1 (which they obviously can do and are choosing not to), then it will be even more important to log and upload the fight data to actually know what is going on/going wrong in the game.
Outside of just trying to figure out what abilities do most of your damage to try and LEARN TO PLAY your class, details gives you so much nice information for finding out how your group can improve while, very importantly, STAYING INSIDE THE GAME INSTEAD OF GOING TO THIRD PARTY WEBSITES.
How can we be removing all the functionality of details in the name of lowering the barrier to entry while also making it even more important to do something EVEN HARDER (logging) to do than just downloading a dps meter by making logging the only way to evaluate most of the functions of details.
I don’t want to have to log fights to tell what is doing most of my damage, or what my buff uptime is. I don’t want to log fights to see kicks. I don’t want to log fights to see my crit chance between fights. I don’t want to log fight in order to do anything that details does instantly.
Stop making the game MORE complicated by making a non functional details. It hurts casuals more than hardcore players which is insanely backwards compared to how you are selling this idea of no addons.

Then don’t? It’s already came to conclusion that DPS Meters tell you what you want them to tell you.
A dead toon cannot DPS, screwing up the chart.

I want to know what spells are doing what amount of my damage so I can improve and prioritize the moves. Currently the blizzard meters only show raw DPS or Damage done unless they have been updated.
Also to go along with your point, you would need logs to tell when people died and to what, furthering my point.

To be honest, I would even rather see everything details has currently but ONLY for myself (like my kicks, my dispels, my damage breakdown and crit %) than see only the dps of the raid.
People don’t understand how this will make the game even more toxic if we lack these functionalities. You can see this in FF14 with the hushed whispers of parsing and meters and players getting kicked without knowing why because they can’t even tell what they do wrong without 3rd party plugins and websites.

Not being able to track groupwide defensive usage, interrupts/cc and self-healing just means healers are going to get blamed for people dying even more than they do now. People think there’s a tank shortage? This combined with gutting custom UI functionality and Blizzard’s inability to accurately replicate it means we’re going to see the biggest departure of healers this game has ever seen.

I mean I agree with pretty much all of this, I just was saying that if I had to choose between only seeing dps for the raid or seeing EVERYTHING but only for me, I would choose the latter.
Healers are going to get the shortest end of the stick with the lack of info. I don’t understand why they don’t just port details 1 to 1.

Read the ability tooltips. They’ve always been there to tell you how much damage your abilities do. Do you have them turned off?

That is fine if you want a really low level read on what happens but if you actually care about playing well that just simply isn’t sufficient. There are plenty of abilities that have multi hits or procs that would make telling it at tool tip glance impractical.
Would you rather live in a world where details tells you how much of your damage glacial spike is, or a world where people tell you to log yourself to tell how to improve?

I don’t really pay attention to it. I use my glacial spike when i have a flurry available. Simple as that.
Ok so then you don’t actually care about this (which is fine) but many people do and want to improve their play because they find joy in pushing high keys or playing better in pvp.
If you don’t care about it why support ruining the enjoyment for others?

It really isn’t our fault you have a pedantic neurotic need to optimize everything you do, that’s called OCD.

It is fun to optimize! There are entire genres built around it and it is quite dismissive and rude to say that about the experience of other people.
If I could see only my own damage breakdown, how would that hurt others?

Why aren’t you playing those genres built around it? You’ve joined the game at a bad time, it’s getting more simple next expansion.

Because world of warcraft is a great game that is awesome for a wide variety of people that blizzard tries to accommodate and has excellent moment to moment gameplay that I enjoy.
I have played since TBC, so I have been around a long time.
You still have not answered how it would be bad for me to know metrics about my own play.

People hating on this are wild lol.

When did I do that? I just suggested you could read your tooltips.
How it would be bad when? During the fight, after the fight? What are we talking about? Just look at logs after the fight. You’ve been here since TBC, you know what a log is surely. This is embarrassing.
I will admit I read into what you said more than that then. If you are ok with them adding the functionality I said then I take that back and apologize.

That’s cool. I apologize for rubbing you the wrong way with something you’re so passionate about.
