I would like to counter with: Paladin tanks having a 10+ second long horse that can run around and trample people is really funny.
Besides that though, yeah I can’t really speak on much else. I just think it is really damn funny. ^^’
No idea if it is any good though, just that it is funny!

Lol DH Tanks were doing that exact same thing when Legion was new, you’d just get stomped by a transformed DH tank running around, was also funny.
Tanks kinda have a place in Rated PvP, but with casuals/randoms, not so much.
People have to play around the tank’s strengths, let them have the flag, etc.

Yeah but getting stomped isn’t nearly as funny as imagining other people as bowling pins and you are a bowling ball. Ya’ gotta say “OUT OF THE WAAAAAAAAY!” to the folks you are trampling, not just play Whack a Mole with 'em!

Tank nerfs were whatever, I’ve actually been having more fun in M0s this xpac than in DF, but of course, M+ is going to be the real reality shock, especially since I am playing a spec that is dogwater right now.
Back on topic, the biggest contributor to the lack of tanks is that it’s borderline impossible to find a raid guild as one. You know how hard it is to find a guild that needs a main or off-tank? They usually have 2 that have been raiding with them since forever and like 5 or 6 DPS willing to off-spec tank for M+ groups. It’s just way too restrictive.

They should really just move away from the tank/dps/healer trio. It’s never been a good system.

I have my queue search set up to only look at groups where tank AND healer are filled. I’m doing my part.

yea raids only need 2 tanks lolol.
And they aren’t really needed in PVP.
And general game composition mildly reflects that reality.

Tanks are mad boring this expansion.
- Monk is an on-cooldown machine with little to no variety.
- Paladin is the same as Monk with more maintenance.
- Prot Warrior is 3 button mashing with some instant mashing.
- Druid is Prot Warrior with more buttons.
- Blood is long cooldowns with boring rune management just to get decent DPS.
- VDH is cringe.
So yeah, tanking is boring.

And I thought it would be healers that would be on this spot despite reading healers “not healing enough”
It’s almost instant the queue as tank on normals and heroics…
Hi! Career tank here!
I stopped queueing when follower dungeons gave me freedom from abusive randos!
Thank you follower dungeons!
Y’all did this to yourselves!
If you’re a decent human being, I’m not accusing you, and you too have the option to use follower dungeons starting at level 10 aaaaall the way to the level cap! You can even use follower dungeons with up to three friends, and even cross faction!
Delves absolutely, miraculously, blissfully murdered any chance I’ll ever look at level cap dungeon progression!
Have a nice day!

Or maybe some of us tanks don’t enjoy being rushed by impatient, entitled DPS who pull everything and then get upset when they die. So we tank only what we need—nothing more. We’re not here to help just because someone wants to rush.

Raids need more healers, so there should be 2x healers vs tanks available.
Flex raids though… go from needing 2 tanks to a maximum of needing 2 tanks.
People treat tanks like trash…not surprised

I always felt useful as Blood in RBGs. It felt like I was great at peeling for my teamates and keeping people off their faces.
Then because I was Blood the enemy couldn’t just kill me and move on.
But I haven’t PvPed yet this expansion, and that could also mostly be down to Blood being a DK spec with stuff like Gorefiends and Death Grip + Chains of Ice. Not sure about other tank specs.

We seen plenty of mmos with no tanks and they just don’t work, mobs run all over the place and is a chaotic mess.

Blood was amazing last expansion, if I recall it was -the- PvP tank generally.
Basically immortal, and could carry a flag across even when taking a significant beating.
Also Death Grip for pulling healers/priority targets, yeah they’re pretty good.
As with all tanks though, you need to have your team acknowledge you’re a tank, and play with you lol.

While I press F to doubt the 99% statistic with no data to back it, I do think that Tanks feel squishier with the nerf. As a result many (but not all) Tanks simply do not want to trust an unknown healer’s skill to keep them alive (and thus have fun rather than suffer wipe-fest), so they just group with friends and the population of Tanks entering PUG queues is decreased.
I also have no data, but that certainly seems like a plausible result of nerfing Tank self-sustain.
I mean tanks did deserve the nerf, damage they do still seem on the lower side and that does affect people wanting to play them in pugs because damage is more relevant with pugs.
Interesting how cata classic had near no queue problem on launch with less than 5 min queue for dps because tanks with vengeance do feel great to play but when tanks do damage then dps players don’t like it and ask why no one want to tank when tanks can’t do damage.

Blizzard seem adamant in nerfing dps trinkets for tanks and is what was pushing us over the top in Dragonflight.
