9.2 PvP Foundational Changes

12 time glad thinking about solutions for modern day wow and to encourage activity. 9.2 or even 10.0 ideas.

Foundational PvP Suggestions:
RBG inflation of rating more points per win and no cr loss till 1800. This is due to low activity incentivizing casuals to push elite gear, transmogs, pvp mounts, and titles. New unique prizes for shadowlands potentially toys or rbg specific transmog mount on achieving hero or the horde or alliance.

5v5 arena mode reimplemented. Arena master reintroduced 2200-2400 in all brackets including new mode to encourage people to try for title.

Gladiator reversed to percentage at end of ladder in 3v3 only. Rank 1 still same bracket cut off, gladiator top 3 percent of bracket to encourage more people to push to a decent respectable rating. Elite rating of 2400 to acquire physical tabard in any of the three arena brackets and rbgs. Elite gear transmog at new cutoff of 1950 should be okay with mmr boosts in rbgs. Gladiator title remains on all expansion if earned for the specific toon. Glad Mount still able to be mounted on different characters.

New areas and quests weekly based off war mode encouraging pvp. similar to the korthia pvp quest for shackle trinket but new things each month to give active subs a way to earn pvp rewards outside of rated content. Conquest base ilevel or heroic raid.

Honorable kill rewards completely reworked maybe new shadowlands mount or achieve for sacking a faction leader. Or larger open concept pvp bg implemented like Maw vs alliance and horde teams pushing a scenario timer.

Pvp Vendor stocked with every possible stat allocation on every item. Or reintroduce reforging similar to the legendary creation of two stats through missives. Also include all conduits in pvp vendor to encourage pve to consider pvp an alternate way to obtain bis conduits.

Gearing for pvp should be three levels - honor gear 3 item levels lower than normal raid ilevel and mythic dungeons. Conquest gear base equaling heroic raids. 1800 rating for all but weapons is the mythic raid upgrade. 2100 for mythic weapons. Legendary weapons in pve are bis in pvp again, yup you heard it here first pvp was better when a bit of pve gear was the most optimal bis. Not mandatory for rank 1 cutoff or glad pushes.

LFG tool revised a bit unsure how best to implement.

Major PvP Balance Change:
Double pvp trinket bonus Versatility no longer increases damage and healing done by 40 percent, instead increases damage reduction component of current versatility by 40 percent.

What is top 3%, like 2100 or something?

All of this is bad

It is much better than the crap system we currently have, power gaps are huge, gear upgrades gated behind rating, most people need to do LFG which makes it extremely slow to gain rating past 1400 not to mention that unfair matchmaking.

They Have killed wow pvp, especially for new or returning players. You should be able to upgrade your conquest gear regardless of rating or make it so you do not lose rating for loses until you get past 1800.

It encourages pvp participation. 2400 is a joke as is the only true test of skill is rank 1 and I still haven’t achieved it.

Don’t worry about that, you have 12 glads in 3 seasons. You will be fine.

GLAD push here I come!!!

This is so sadly on point…im old as hell and have been here forever, and wow is just…a habit for me i guess,…and im also just about done. I have fully geared characters (mostly) but trying to play alts and it seems bgs are all premades and one sided and arena lower rating queues are more dead than i ever remember. I am literally seeing 3 or 4 people even looking for a person at all in 2s across all brackets and 3s is just as bad.

Really feel game is dead atm. Letting my sub run out

they can create incentives for participation without destroying rewards even farther than they have already

no reason they cant do things like

  • 0-1600 gear based rewards / casual vicious mounts
  • 1800 armor type elite sets
  • 2100 elite weapon tint
  • 2200 class specific elite sets
  • 2300 seasonal weapon enchant
  • 2400 seasonal tabard
  • 2700 + 50 wins gladiator (makes way more sense when these seasons go on 30+weeks)
  • another reward between 2700 → 2950 (maybe a top 0.5% reward)

the current gladiator is incredibly easy to obtain, this season glad is at 2.1% of the ladder which is almost like 5x what it should be at %tile (same with the other 2 glads you have)

this isn’t incentivizing people to continue playing and with account wide glad/elite sets there isn’t even incentive to play alts

the trend of SL so far has been that gladiator is achieved by a huge bulk of the playerbase that cares to get it in around 5-8 weeks max
at the 8 week point participation evaporates
then by week 20 queues >2400 are practically dead

cant imagine how bad it would be when a majority of players new/bad/casual even could just get THE pvp reward in like 2 weeks of playing to spend the rest of the 35 week season afking with 0 point to playing

we need incentives to queue MORE and for LONGER
we don’t need to go full stupid and lower all the rewards so players earn them instantly and stop playing sooner lmfao

I personally like the system as it is right now.

I just want to remind everyone that the 40% vers on trinkets doesn’t really matter if it goes over 30%.

Unless it changed at something, the benefit from vers in PVP is very minimal past 30%

You shouldve seen rbg qeues…couple of days ago the lfg for rbg’s was completely empty for more than 2 hours during prime time ^^

It seems almost all threads about how to fix pvp starts working on the top of the pyramid. Now I dont work with construction, but I got a feeling that if you start working on the top of a building it wont add up in the end.

Start at the foundation, the casuals, and work upwards. The game is currently broken the most at the foundation and core, not at the top 1%.

unless i’m misunderstanding what you’re trying to say this is cooking me

for 1 the 40% bonus from 2pc trinkets is NOT functionally versatility so it doesn’t interact with the diminishing return at all

assuming you’re talking about the diminishing return added to SL

at > 30% you suffer a 10% DR to your stat gain
meaning to earn 1% versatility at >30% you need to equip what would typically be 1.10% to achieve that 1%

there’s a 20% DR at 40% but honestly even at >40%vers with the 20% DR applied versatility is likely still the best stat for almost everyone

Well sure, vers is still the best stat. It’s never not going to be the best stat. It’s the most functionally broken stat that’s ever been in the game.

And I’m like 50% sure that it is affected by the DR. Could be wrong, I’m too lazy to test it.

Bad bonus anyways, needs to be removed.

things like nadjia 20% vers proc end up effected by the diminishing return
that’s actual versatility

but the 2pc bonus doesn’t actually increase your versatility or even interact with it
it just takes the damage and healing benefit of your current versatility and increases them

was confused that you said

bcuz a 10% dr is super ignorable even if the 2pc trinket bonus didnt exist
