Player versus Player
- Lower item-level PvP gear will now scale to a higher item-level in PvP situations than before. This should reduce the power level gap so that new characters can feel that they’re able to compete in Battlegrounds and Arenas more readily. This change will not affect high item-level PvP gear.
- Additional PvP Titles and Item Level Ranks have been added to provide a more granular upgrade path for players climbing up the ranks.

hardly… lol we all love 18 ranks of gear fam sounds like a blast lol… jk
I’m actually stoked for this change and so are my low rated friends, sad that a huge improvement like this is seen as a flop. I wish we got more changes like this

I think this is good actually! I’m excited

thats fair… just feels like the exact opposite of what was asked from literally everyone in the community lol… cant wait to press upgrade 9 times to buy a new piece to do it 9 times again… also does that mean even more honor too farm? sounds like forced labor lol… again
Edit*
guess i agree its probably a good change but in a lot of ways reading it made me cringe majorly at first … and thinking about more honor too grind is also kinda weird…
i like 9.1 quite a bit but its still a insanely major grind we all just kinda wanna play the game and stop having so much too worry about lol… and if it is something to worry about at least make it fun somehow … TBH having it all the same ILVL but making ur weekly cap be determined by your rating (to a somewhat fair extend seems much more fun and engaging while also increasing ladder activity) and also gives skilled players the short term power boost that kinda feels fun till people catch up in gear

Better than things have been, not as good as just having an honor and conquest set that doesn’t cost 150 million honor to upgrade.

Ok now that we can see the PvP ilvl it doesn’t look as bad but nerfing duelist and adding another rank is a fail.
I don’t mind them bridging the gap with extra ranks (assuming cost is gutted) but making the max gear, even if it’s just 1 ilvl, less accessible in rated is still an out of touch move.

I mean the lower gear scaling up is nice for Alts but yea they could you know just do gear like it was always done. Not sure why they felt the need to “fix” something that wasn’t broken…

I don’t know if it’s so out of touch. I feel like this could improve ladder participation at higher ratings without actually changing the power cap by anything significant
To me it seems like a positive change in the long term and could keep the ladder healthier for longer

Considering the vocal PvP community has been screaming “1 honor set, 1 conquest set, no upgrades, WOD gearing, cosmetics for high rating” into the void for about 9+ months now, for them to add more ranks instead of removing them is tone deaf.

Good change overall. The only thing that concerns me now is the honor/conquest gains. Game will be a lot better for alts if this is addressed and fixed.

Well I’m not going to argue with you there, everyone wants the 1 set dream
Probably hard to implement and keep the game healthy when we only get 1 patch/season per year tho

With this many ranks of pvp gear the cost for upgrade should get nerfed by a lot, otherwise this is just another unnecessary grind.

More ranks is bad I agree. However 1400 rating for 250 ilvl is a very welcome change making alts actually playable in arena. Skill will matter much more than gear again

I think they could have still netted a win if they didn’t nerf duelist and add a new rank at the top.
The fact that they went out of their way to add a 2400 power increase again is mind boggling.
I think for me personally and a lot of other people, we’re reading that as a red flag blizzard still doesn’t get it.
An update has been done and its worse now somehow

Isn’t this what people wanted? Duelist and elite are the same now?
But its worse for the lower end of the spectrum.
Went from 242 vs 259 to 233 vs 259

not really like literally u can afk to 1200. and ur 242. and if u JUST do 1600 ur already 249. i think 1600 is literally 100% acheivable by any casual. and from that to highest gear is like 10 ilvl diff. not bad at all
