Is 9.1 everything that you hoped for? If you were unsubbed would it make you want to resub? There’s still a handful of details we don’t know fully about yet, but what we have seen and been able to test so far gives us a good idea of how it’s going to be. Are you super excited for the patch does it address some of your concerns? what are your thoughts overall about it?
the only content that would likely interest me is torghast if they include any good cosmetics, but it looks like they’re botching that up so far, so… no on all counts probably
might do lfr for once though, since the gear sets look pretty cool
I’m looking forward to the mega-dungeon and the new raid, like every patch, but beyond that, there’s nothing really unique about this patch that excites me.
I definitely want that hand mount. The Covenant assaults seem like they could be interesting. I am well and truly ready for flying, and have a handful of alts that are ready to speed toward 60 once it’s unlocked.
I’m excited for new Renown levels and the various rewards, especially the new flying mounts and the anima rate increases (I haven’t seen that talked about much but I know I saw it datamined as a Renown reward).
In short, yeah, I’m looking forward to 9.1
I’m certainly looking forward to it, but it’s the usual, “good in spirit, bad in implementation” situation.
Balancing…
- Fire mage nerfs; definitely needed. not really clear if this will be enough due to new conduit ranks and gear, would rather see nerfs + aoe cap.
- Balance druid nerfs; definitely needed. not really clear if this will be enough because chances are starfall continues to be adjusted, no other brez viable m+ classes and raid spread cleave could all mean balance stays king.
- Buffs for non-DH tanks, good
- Ion saying they will try to adjust encounter raid design to be more melee friendly, good
- Nerfing of disc and venthyr holypally, good
- Buffs to destruction, good; nerfing malefic rapture, good, giving affliction a closer-to-2min cd, good, making affliction even better at spread cleave for the next raid… ugh.
- New soulbind rows… definitely needed but really doubtful that they can make necro or kyrian feel as good as NF and Venthyr with multiple viable binds that feel good to choose between. NF binds are just head and shoulders above everything else.
- Covenant legos… feels very unlikely many if any will change the meta choices.
Content…
- New raid where we kill another insanely evil horde leader, good
- New mega dungeon;
- Mounts in the maw… very sad for everyone who did TC like they were supposed to. It would have been better if as a catch-up mechanic they just opened up TC layer 8 attempts to everyone so that you still had to do something to earn this.
- Flying in old SL zones, good
- A new zone without flying, excellent for reading the “i can’t play without flying” rage posts
- Improving upon torghast powers, good, but the classes that had really terrible powers (Hunter) don’t seem to be getting much love
- Cosmetics from torghast, good, except the one shown so far looks terrible (gilded shoulders). Was really hoping for something you’d actually care to collect, similar to mage tower weapon appearances.
- Cosmetics of the legos and their recolors from “somewhere”; good, these were pretty cool sets
- Still no real anima catch up, very, very bad. The “more anima after you upgrade your covenant” does not work out mathematically (the investment takes years before you make up the deficit and start profiting).
- New PvP talents actually look fun to use
I mostly raid heroic across various characters, run a couple mythic+ each week and collect transmog. The new raid, dungeon and zone is pretty par for the course. The balance changes suggest they can see the problem even if their solutions seem… dubious. Was really hoping they would leverage the opportunity to make torghast more than just the weekly soul ash run but they need wayyy more cosmetics to make that enticing.
Honestly? I’m gonna be real. 9.0 absolutely ruined WoW for me, and has made me someone who barely logs in anymore. I used to be someone who arena’d whenever I could, and all that. Now? I haven’t logged in in weeks.
And, if I’m totally honest, I’m not keeping up with the news either involving 9.1. You know what I’ve been doing? Playing Resident Evil Village. Fantastic game.
if they fix somewhat balance specs maybe if my sham is sitting at bottom probably i’m just gone til last patch and no i ain’t rerolling specs i play what i enjoy and right now enhance looks straight trash for 9.1. i’ll just quit til last patch they seem to feel sorry and fix me then usually somewhat. torghast just sucks don’t do just for legendary thats it definitely not enough wq’s so boring with only the few they had so who knows. maw don’t interest either i have eye problems and some them areas are just hell on my eyes. doesn’t seem like many are feeling excited about it who knows.
Unless they seriously nerfed the time gating on story elements, naw… Not interested
They nerf the time gating after the episodes are finished.
Like a week after the original oribos story was over you could play through the whole thing in one day.
Covenant story will probably be the same as it is now, a new episode each week and you can catch up on rank immediately.
I’m interested in new quests, dungeon, and raid similar to any other patch.
I agree with this. Time gating is so incredibly lazy. May as well just come out and say there’s not enough content in the game to justify a monthly sub.
Without time gating everyone would be done with the story in a day or two. Pretty pathetic. Rather than time gating, add more content. That’s how you earn your money.
So… Time gating
You can only speed through the weeks that have already passed… If its a 20 week story, you’re still waiting 20 weeks to be able to complete something that takes like… 4 hours
I could live with it if the story was insanely engaging to, or had good cliff hangers that sent you to do random stuff in the world while you waited… But no, its “Just run here, do this 10 minute thing and than screw off for a week”
No I have stopped actively playing I just cant bear to log in.
I’m more or less in the same boat…
You log in to wait for horribly managed pvp queues because either not enough interest or to many BG’s in the pool
You log into wait for story elements to unlock
You Log in to wait for LFR or a Raid
You log in to wait to get into a M+, only to find out its a bunch of arsewads and have to leave to save any hope of sanity.
I simply don’t have the time to spend 30 minutes in a queue for something that will be unsatisfying. Either due to just awful PVP Balance or PVE Balance (and I’m not saying I’m weak as prot, I can hold my own fairly well even solo in torghast L10) or just due to awful systems design/implementation. ( I don’t mind borrowed power elements when they actually are meaningful… none of the ones in this expansion are so far)
I don’t feel as though there’s anything in the current expansion worth logging in for. I have most the mounts and mogs I want from old content so that doesn’t drive me anymore. Will probably just go level in TBC pre patch when that comes out. I had a lot of fun in SL for around 2 months, but since then struggle to find a reason to even log in.
Looking so forward to being able to fly. Everything else probably doesn’t affect me much given my end game doesn’t involve playing with other people.
No clue yet…looks like another 6-7 week of iterations so who knows what the final product will look like.
It hasn’t been released so I haven’t played it yet. If I go on the PTR and complete everything, I’ll have nothing to do with it does come out.
I haven’t tested it, haven’t played it.
What is being offered. There is some nice or cool things but overall I’m not interested in the Korthia stuff, the Torghast changes are /facepalm worthy after all the chatter Ion made. Nothing else really.
Mega dungeon I’ll not pug.
Raid I won’t pug.
Their instanced content, dungeon and raid stuff is usually always good.
I’m having a hard time coming up with a reason to convince my friend to sub when covenants and conduits still feel so constraining. He enjoys watching me stream arena but he’s explicitly told me that these systems make him not want to play himself.
I saw an idea thrown out to just let everyone use any soulbind and just tie the covenant abilities to the active soulbind. I really liked that one. I still don’t understand why after saving Shadowlands 3/4 of the covenants decide they don’t like us. We’re all just a nameless Maw Walker to them anyways.
