I don’t remember the patch that made my legendary invalid in the same expansion. That didn’t even happen in legion!
Imagine…crafting a legendary to only be made worthless in the next patch of the same expansion.
Legion did that for some classes/specs.

You swapped legendaries yes which was easy as pie.
