Summons a totem with 5% of your health at the target location for 6 sec that forms a circuit of electricity that enemies cannot pass through. PvP Talent. PvP Talent. 30 yd range. Instant. 60 sec cooldown. Requires Shaman. Requires level 10.
5% is approximately 2,000 health and is hilariously too low of a number to even consider using this in arena.
You effectively removed a talent that is never used and replaced with a talent that as it stands now, will NEVER be used.
Since BFA ele shamans have been literally BEGGING the devs to add a pvp talent that provides either some sort of dispel protection OR removes/reduces the cool down of flame shock.
Adding a pvp talent that buffs flame shock will help move elemental shaman away from a play style that no one likes to play or play against (Lightening lasso off CD)
Heres the thing thoughâŚMage actually has great CC outside of Frost wall though, so its not that big of a deal if frost wall isnt great(although I do think it will definitely see some good use by good mages).
You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. Itâll still go in cause itâll be in good company. Thereâs only 3 pvp talents that have kept up and arenât bad.
5% is basically 2,000 hp. If an opponent canât do 2,000 in a single hit, they arenât really an opponent.
Itâs not like it couldnât be improved.
Totem Wall - In maniac desperation, throw 5 random totems with 5% of the casterâs HP. Lasts 20 seconds blocking LoS while any of the totems remain. Passing through or destroying the totem causes random effects, Hexing, Sleep, Charming, Fearing, or Burning offenders.
Opponent wants to bust through, fine, suffer. Opponent does AoE to bust through, fine, suffer all effects. Opponent wants to walk through, suffer, the effects. Opponent wants to not bust through at all, LOS blocked for a bit.
Flameshocks for 10 sec, CC for 2 sec, or heck just some of them could be gnarly wood that looks mean.
Point is, it is a play that would actually eat more than a single global from the opponent and force them to consider something more than a mouse-over auto-attack.
I like that they are experimenting with more geography altering abilities like this and ice wall. Lots of interesting applications/possibilities to explore. Alters play in interesting ways that arenât just damage or healing or traditional forms of CC.
Numbers like totem health, duration, size, CD, can be tweaked. But the concept is interesting.
I hope we see a bunch more changes to PvP talents on the PTR over the coming weeks. Chance to mix things up and make PvP fresh for season 2.
I wish PvP talents would get more regular attention since they have so much power to mix up the dynamics of PvP.
If they added enough good PvP talents, they could potentially expand back to 4 choices instead of 3 and still avoid cookie cutter if there were enough interesting/powerful choices. Which would make it less bothersome to have one or two that seem mandatory in most situations.
I liked Elemental Attunement. Matched with Icefury, Aftershock, and Windspeakerâs. Wasnât uncommon to generate more than 100 Maelstrom. Why remove talents, especially with a Stormkeeper Chain
Can i just say i like the IDEA of this totem? Im sure yall feel this too, but when you have a target low HP and about to finish them off and they use a giant mobility thing (shadowstep, blink, heroic leap, whatever) to get back to a pillar before you can land a kill⌠its infuriating because we have no mobility to follow up with.
Mage vs mage you can blink their blink. if they blink to get line of sight, you can blink right after them to stay on target. Shaman doesnt get that. Shamans cant chase a kill down.
i can see this totem being absolutely clutch in situations where you have someone in a bad positioning and you can really punish them regardless of their superior mobility. Resto druid comes out into the middle of a map to land CC? 1) stop the cc 2) drop static field totem on them 3) they are SO VULNERABLE to a hard swap because they are stuck in the open off a pillar.
but 5% hp is just too low. 1700 HP is not going to do anything. And im worried that buffing it is just going to cause another Void Tendrils situation.
With the right team composition maybe itâs a Roshach Totem. Enough AoEâs start happening, itâll be the lid that keeps the slushie mix in. Itâs not like warriors canât already set up their own blenders that they need Static Field to keep them in.
Needs more health, all totems need more health. Double it, 10% of the shamanâs health thatâs 2 GCDs. The amounts are supposed to be balanced against teams, right? Thatâs two people in a single time-frame that have to swivel their heads, itâs still lame that our spells can be globally dispelled, but itâs better than one.
Thats interesting, its a cage! I do wish it had more HP though, but definitely going to be a handy tool⌠potentially.
What COULD be interesting is setting it up then knocking someone back into it, gives you an extra second or two to make distance. Or if they donât notice it because you set it further back they might sit there for awhile (assuming you can knock someone inside of it)
Itâs beyond frustrating when itâs tied to totem ho, something that has been beaten over the devs heads by the community for years.
Everyone largely hates cap totemâŚbut lasso, which has a channel and isnât ideal either is great. There are ways to limit the ability without tying it to totem hp.
And the argument here doesnât ever work because monk has higher damage output, higher mobility, more utility, and can constantly reset fights with roll and energy resource healing.
