9.1 Aff PvP Changes

Yeah dude, Aff won’t be amazing with this. You’re literally already capped on PvP talents. You never take Amp, it’s always Rampant, Demon Armor/Nether Ward and RC. Your only choices are either Demon Armor or Nether Ward, that’s it, otherwise you lose out on a lot.

If they gave Aff 1 or 2 PvP talents baseline to free up more PvP talents, then yeah you can totally use Amp or something else but especially in an RBG setting, you’re 100% capped on GCDs so making us have to use more curses and not getting an auto slow with Corruption will just hurt the spec entirely since it gets hurt with GCDs. Healers are not afraid to dispel with Aff DoTs, even a Rot Cleave they will still dispel on CD with 0 worries.

I always take amp over netherward vs melee cleaves and its amazing.

You don’t take Nether Ward if the team has even 1 melee, you’d take Demon Armor. The moment you’re caught, without Demon Armor, you take a lot of unnecessary damage that would be mitigated through Demon Armor and Demon Skin. Amp is more amazing than Nether Ward vs melee cleaves, yeah, but Demon Armor provides so, so so much more survivability, which as Affliction it is 100% in the enemy team’s best interest to always have a melee trying to focus you, if not 2 or 3 melee focusing you.

so demon armor/rampant afflictions/amp curse. You dont run that vs melee as aff?

I’ve ran Demon Armor / Rapid Contagion / Rampant Affliction unless there’s 0 melee dps, then it would be Nether Ward in place of Demon Armor, but that’s extremely rare in RBGs.

That’s fair. for 3s, I’d still run the same setup; Demon Armor/Rampant/Contag but I could be wrong on that. I don’t do arenas much, so yee. My PvP is mostly a group of casuals doing RBGs at around 8 games or so a week, as I join them for 1 night only.

Yea in 3s your job as affliction is to run and kite get ua up and let your partner do the rest, so with that being said having amp curse on melee or even the increased cast time for a healer etc is huge

Are you serious? You do realize how annoying SPlay is right, I mean you’re a glad so I’m sure you get it maybe I don’t. It’s definitely hard for me to beat.

Just had a random BG with 2 locks spamming that crap. The nerf was needed and well deserved.

Aff is DOA next patch. It’s actually terrible. Time to switch to destro and hate my life again, or just reroll mains.

It is needed but not deserved. Aff has literally NO free GCDs to use on anything. 8 DoTs, curses, 2 CDs to go through before you can even begin casting MRs and such up there, like it’s mega annoying. Throw in a healer to freely dispel Aff dots with no shame, and gg, gotta spam another 15 buttons all over again before MR spam becomes a thing.

Next patch will be much more atrocious for both Aff players and for those fighting against Aff with that Sacro leggo still in play, as that leggo makes it so Corr ticks increase curse uptime by 2 seconds per tick. My Corruption ticks at 1.7 seconds regularly, so it’ll infinitely extend the duration of curses, meaning if you cannot remove curses and I have curse of exhaustion on you for 50% movement speed reduction, without it being dispelled or some removal you’re gonna be forever slowed.

So it will be atrocious to both the Aff lock having to use and spam the extra GCDs but it’ll be just as, if not MORE atrocious to all those with Corruption and Curses on them to begin with.

Anywho, Affliction doesn’t actually want more GCDs, though, as the ramp is already insane enough as it is for the burst and how easy it is to stop it.

I’d rather have them buff DoT damage itself though, and not have it in MR at all. Nonetheless, cheers.

As others have said, the change was needed but needs to be offset. Lets be honest here… playing RBGs when the opposing team has a single Warlock just isn’t fun. We all know this. We also know that it is literally the only reason Warlocks are brought to RBGs and no other Warlock spec has any real play currently. Other things need to change and hopefully people who actively play the class provide real feedback (and not just whining) to see some actual changes happen. Hopefully those changes are oriented around making Affliction actually play like a unique spec and not just another DD spammer like the other 2 builds currently are, which is the reason I decided to not go Warlock when I came back for Shadowlands despite it being my main when I quit a decade ago.

I don’t mind playing destro, i just want the “warlock” to be good. Don’t need to broken or meta, but the class has been my main for a log time. I appreciate all you guys and gals and your feedback. We have a strong community and for the most part everyone is chill.

I’m wondering if I have both a curse and corruption on me and dispel the curse… will a new curse benefit from the corruption? Or will the warlock also need to cast a new corruption on me for the new curse to benefit?

I imagine it doesn’t matter, as they don’t stick together only. All of your curses, meaning both Agony and Curse of -name- will be extended by 2 seconds per Corruption tick. The faster the ticks the more it’s extended, unless you have someone able to remove curses. RBG teams will be requiring at least 1 curse dispelling person on the team so that way if they run into Aff locks, they’re not permanently cursed.

Sacrolash works on Agony, too? Is that confirmed? I hoped that it was the case but assumed it would be too good to be true.

Agony isn’t a curse and hasn’t been? If you ptr please confirm if it does or doesn’t treat agony as a curse for this because that’s game changer material potentially.
