Unless Blizzard surprises us like with BC, 9.0 will be one of the longest patches in WoW history. It’s going to even surpass several of the end of expansion droughts at this rate.
- 5.4 - The Siege of Orgrimmar – 1 Year 1 Month
- 6.2 - Fury of Hellfire - 1 Year
- 8.3 - Visions of N’Zoth - 11 Months
- 7.3 - Shadows of Argus - 10 Months
- 3.3 - Fall of the Lich King - 10 Months
- 4.3 - Hour of Twilight - 8 Months
- 9.0 - Shadowlands - 7 months and counting…
It’s pretty wild that an X.0 patch is in contention for the top 5 longest patches in WoW history

My question is why have a season go this long why not make a second season? Why do seasons have to coincide with release of raid tiers if they insist on huge time frames?

What’s worse is most of those are end-of-xpac patches and SL is the first patch…

There was this thing called a pandemic that slowed the entire world down. Welcome to 16 months ago.

Might as well do a wod and finish the expac up by 9.2

To be fair, they were way behind even before the pandemic started.

Because seasons come with ilvl upgrades. You can’t have a dungeon ilvl upgrade without a new raid.

My thoughts exactly…Usually end of expansion patches are longer because they are working on the new expansion and the game is mostly on maintenance mode at that point.

Sure you can.
They did it with PVP in legion. It was strange yes but it is doable.

not real sure it affected ESO nearly as bad.
Very confused about that.

Pssh. It’s the best ROI number on a project ever by ways extending the life of the content.

Blizzard would only have 2 weeks of slow down max before they got used to things. The pandemic isn’t an excuse.

It almost seems like something went terribly wrong like in WOD. I doubt the pandemic is main problem.

True, it just rubs me wrong when folks blame it on the pandemic when it’s not that. Maybe they should stop creating expansions based around horde leaders that start world wars that hop into another plane of existence feels like a bad omen at this point.

CN opened in December. HoF didn’t close until Feb. They added Valor in March. It’s June.
GD always gets me. They add too much, too quick and the game is not alt-friendly. They let 6 months go by and people start comparing it to the 13 months of MoP.

No one, and I mean no one, ever said seven months for a patch is too fast. What a ridiculous argument to make.

You cannot use this excuse when every other company in the industry is able to work remotely just fine.

It’s not the pandemic, it’s not time played metrics.
It the lame e-sports.
The schedule for season went up to last weekend, they don’t make massive changes during the seasons.
You can expect to see movement on 9.1 now that the e-sports season is over.

Emerald Nightmare was loudly complained about for being too short and too easy at 4 months.
CN is complained about for being too long and too hard at 6 months.
