Update: I figured it out
Hey folks. I have been mulling over how to improve the intuitiveness of the Eclipse system for balance. I have never used WeakAuras, but this issue is bothersome enough that I am going to learn the tool finally, and come up with a solution, because damn. If anyone already knows about an existing WeakAura that helps track Eclipses in a fun/sexy way, I’d love to hear about it.
Edit: this sort of turned into a draft of notes for what I am going to try and make (if someone doesn’t come along and link me to something similar that already exists, or presents me with a reason why this wouldn’t/couldn’t work).
For those that haven’t read up on how the new Balance system works with eclipses, here is the mechanic that boomies will be dealing with in 9.0:
Eclipse
Casting 2 Starfire empowers Wrath for 15 sec. Casting 2 Wrath empowers Starfire for 15 sec. **These Eclipses occur in alternation.**
Eclipse (Solar)
Wrath cast time reduced 8% and damage increased 20%.
Eclipse (Lunar)
Starfire cast time reduced 8% and critical strike chance increased 20%.
What I would like to figure out how to do:
-
I want to create a bar that will track my eclipse buff status, based on the following criteria:
- Which Eclipse (if any) I am supposed to be building toward
- Which Eclipse (Lunar or Solar) is currently *active*, as well as some visual indication of how much time I have left on that specific eclipse.
-
I want to create a bar–either horizontal or vertical, straight or curving–that is divided in half (by color, more on that below).
-
I would like the default ‘halves’ of this bar to be some kind of muted dark gray.
-
When no eclipse is active, but an Eclipse (solar or lunar) is building (meaning that one is not active, but is halfway to being active by a cast of Wrath of Starfire), I want that to be indicated by adding a muted/dull color on the Solar side, or the Lunar side, whichever Eclipse is building.
-
I would like for one half of the bar to turn a glowing orange/yellow color when a Solar Eclipse activates (something that indicates Solar spells), and for the other half to turn a glowing blue-ish color when a Lunar Eclipse activates.
-
optional: When an Eclipse officially ends, it might be nice to have an enlarged icon of said eclipse appear (in an enlarged format) in the center of the screen and then fade, similar to what the Doom Cooldown Pulse mod does.
If you took the time to read this, thanks!
