While I will agree that the story had a huge lead up to it and its kind of disappointing that N’zoth is defeated (that we know of) in one patch. Here’s the thing I’ve been pondering for a couple hours. People LOVED Classic WoW and there was literally ZERO lead up to any raid encounter in Classic. Blizz basically did a short intro cinematic (if even that) and tossed us a new boss. So whats the problem here?
I think we as consumers are getting spoiled and expecting too much if I’m being honest. I’ll be the first guy to tell you I want talent trees and pvp vendors back in the game but I will also continue to make the best of what the game has to offer.
Here’s the thing, there are people out there that complain about the corruption system and the time involved to unlock it and then there is the other end of the spectrum that blows through content and is like “ALL DONE GIMME MORE!”. There truly is no happy medium between the two and I honestly think BFA isn’t the worst expansion (looking at you WoD) that they’ve put out. I’ve mentioned unsubbing a few times due to reading changes and then found that once I gave them a shot I actually enjoyed them.
I’m an altoholic and in patch 8.2 I had around 20 toons that were all rocking above 400 ilvl gear and thats only with an hour or two invested in a daily basis.
My biggest complaint was that the intro quest takes too long (which it does) to complete for that number of alts. But now that I’m playing on two toons instead of 20 I find that I’m still enjoying the game.
People blow through and destroy every bit of content and expect to be instantly rewarded with more as soon as they are done. I see it everywhere from WoW to Borderlands 3. People devour all the content as fast as they can possibly manage without savoring the story or gameplay involved and are disappointed. Here’s the reality, its your fault.
My point is that I think honestly that we as consumers are way to spoiled. Either we don’t like a system, the content wasn’t enough (which there is plenty), or the story wasn’t up to par.
Bfa going backwards following legion is not alright in anyway shape or form. I don’t understand what’s wrong with you to accept getting less than what you paid for.
I still find a way to enjoy the content. If I don’t I stop playing the game. There is still plenty of fun to be had. People just have this sense of entitlement about them now. BFA isn’t the worst game or even MMORPG on the market by far.
BFA is just the most horrible expansion pack ever made while Legion is the best ever made. We went from gold to Sh** in just a single expac so it’s really hard on su psychologically.
So here’s the thing. WoW is a bigger game than the latest patch. Despite their earnest efforts to funnel everyone into their latest timesink scheme, there is, in fact, much more to enjoy.
A generation of kids that want and expect everything for free and don’t wanna pay for subs have impacted the amount of R&D they have to put into new content. Impacted how many employees they hire, how much they can pay them, and thus the quality of the employees.
Blizzard bet on generation Z, catered this game to them the last 5 years, and now they are all leaving this genre for stuff like Fortnite.
Meanwhile they’ve ran away and alienated the generation that gave this game the immense revenue stream back in the 1.x - 3.x days. Now those players try and come back and find themselves struggling to like this watered down game.
And let’s face it, the social experience in the game now days isn’t blowing anyone’s hair back either.
On the money! The logical response is to find something else to do until new content comes along. There are plenty of other games with great story to fill the gap, and plenty of life outside of game to be lived. It’s a bit arrogant to expect game content to be updated at my personal pace and then get salty at the developers when they don’t meet that expectation. Sadly, I see that here on the boards all the time.
You do know boomers are like in their 60’s right dunce? And they are one of the most revered and respected generations. Do you think Gen Z will ever achieve that respect?
Thanks for providing a real-time example of exactly what I’m talking about. Thanks bro!
