82% Damage Difference from the bookends of PVP

Theres that and just general lack of map and objective awareness too lol

Then obviously they coudln’t handle it. You’re not going to start on top.

I’m not so sure how well this would work in -practice-, but, borrowing from FF14’s Palace of the Dead gear system might work for WoW PvP given the necessary tuning. You walk in on a new character, your gear is “Level 1” - every win gives you a gear level upgrade and, hey, maybe the PvP vendor can sell enchantments that nudge your stats in a particular direction so you can somewhat optimize your stats for your class.

Maybe the gear progression could start ramped high and taper off to normal so you don’t feel like you’re so behind the curve; a fresh character’s win could give you X number of levels, etc. Maybe every season the gear level resets and the baseline increases, help keep the playing field level. At least this way, individual skill shines a little more, and a fresh character only needs to bag a handful of wins before the discrepancy between low end and high end narrows - and bringing in new people isn’t such a pain if an “undergeared” DPS is only four or five game wins from being able to really compete, rather than a few weeks.

This is a random BG…random. People are not in there with voice comms communicating who’s doing what when. People are just playing the game.

These things work in Arena and Rated BG because of comms. People do not use comms in Randoms.

everyone thinks this is a bad idea… except blizz… and glads

PVP should be about skill not gear, make the gear scale up in pve or real world if ppl want to feel the rewards or watever for their gear but in instanced pvp it should be more of an even playing field.

At least let people grind out stuff like in the older expansions where u just had honor and conquest gear where everyone could get it and benefitted from tier sets.

Also get rid of all the systems.

nah common sense players dont need comms to do basics lol. those are all really basic things once you understand how a class works and how to play a bg map properly. i can understand players not caring to win and just wanting to yolo their minimal honor until they get a lucky win for their 40 conquest a day, but it’s silly to say someone is overpowered when their own skill issues are contributing to it

You can’t be serious.

Think about what you are typing. Random players in a random BG are going to just predict when and what the other 4 players in the group trying to stop the paladin are going to do without overlapping CC’s or breaking them with damage?

Okay.

PvP sucks. Actually, not just PvP, the whole “player power” system is set up for pay-to-win.

In PvP, the matchmaking is SO bad that one team (seemingly whatever team I’m not on) is overgeared to the point that the average team dps/hps is 3-4x or more higher. This is NOT competitive. This is NOT fun. I’m frequently seeing 3-on-1s where 3 cannot down 1, then a 2nd shows up and downs the 3.

Blizzard seems to be tracking token purchases and matching those who have paid for carries with those who have not. This incentivizes the “bad” players to pay-to-win while rewarding those who have already paid with an easy win, providing further incentive for those players to continue paying. This is a tactic I have frequently seen in other f2p, p2w games that I refuse to pay for.

The other thing I find interesting about the p2w carry system, how are some players in top gear the first week player power increases? I sink ~30 hours per week into the game and I don’t get close to top gear before the next patch comes out and resets my progress…but somehow several players can do it the first week and sell carries? Seems more like a Blizz sponsorship to promote token buys than an honest effort on the player’s part.

I am relatively new to WoW, I was always interested in the game, but only started playing 8.3 and bought SL. The only reason I am still subbed was bc I bought SL. When 10.0 comes around, I will no longer sub and will NEVER buy an expac again. My opinion, if I were leaving an objective review, the game is not fun, nor worth the time and effort required in hopes of it becoming fun at some point. The gear and player power system is terrible. If I could ask the devs one question: How many hours per week do you think is reasonable to achieve top gear by halfway through a patch, that way the other half of patch can be spent actually enjoying competitive play, instead of a never-ending grind that resets before you’re ready?

Skill??? WoW does not require skill.

To win, you need the gear, the meta, add-ons, and macros. A geared potato could outplay the most skilled player who’s stuck with honor gear. I mean, literally everything in WoW boils down to your gear… Skill only does so much for your dps/hps and even having all the meta, add-ons, and macros out there won’t help if you’ve got no gear…

I mean, I recently saw a hunter in a BG do over 30k damage with a single rapid-fire…no skill required.

Not everyone that beats you is boosted :joy:

Then advocate for the tournament realms to be opened up to everyone again.

This is an mmo. People that play more or are better at the game are going to have better gear.

It’s literally just paying attention.

Oh, he’s stunned… I won’t use mine here until necessary. Don’t wanna waste it on nothing.

this is grossly incorrect, almost complete disinformation

pvp’ers have yet to get anything they wanted since Legion

the last time pvp’ers had mostly what they wanted was WoD/MoP (people’s preference goes to one or the other)

you’re killin me dude

Is that so?

People conveniently forget what they wanted from that time. The internet never forgets. The PvP gearing problem is a problem the pvper’s themselves created and Bliz added the final nail in the coffin.

Btw, there’s more, I just linked a few

Linking a Bloomsday post has to be a joke. I mean, really?

I sense a disturbance in the force

Why dont they just normalize your gear to a certain iLevel when you pvp?

Those were all after they announced the system, people whose play style was favored seemed happy (I suspect the one was sarcastic). To prove people asked for it you’d need to go back before they made the decision public showing people asking for it.

see the thing is the level 177 buys tokens to get carried to get to ilvl 250 say and blizz profits they couldnt be happier

No templates, just some scaling up to a base ilvl, or the scaling they had in legion just let us choose our stats with gear.
