$80 for real?

It’s so shocking to see people in-game with the items you get when you spend $80. I’m not shaming anyone, but why invest that kind of money into a “museum” version of the game? You know, a version that will run its course and then slowly die because that’s it. It honestly just seems like a waste to me.

It would be different if Blizzard gave players information about what they planned to do next with this version of the game. If they announced they would keep the game alive with something like WOTLK+ then yes… I could see $80 being reasonable. But if they continue going down the expansion train then no… it’s not worth it. Cata was the beginning of the slippery slope. MOP was beautiful…that’s it. It’s ultimately retail at this point. I don’t want to play these again and won’t play these again.

Possibly for similar reasons why people spend hundreds for a bust or statuette of one of the principal NPCs.

I don’t have either version of whatever “deluxe” edition of WotLK they’re selling, but seeing as how in retail I can get enough gold for like 3 tokens per month with trivial amounts of effort I see why it’d be easy to buy.

It’s not like I’m gonna spent b net money on much else.

Well I don’t know how much a boost is.

15 dollars off for the game time.

I guess 20 for boost.

So really it is 45 for cosmetics (mount gives edge on fresh server slightly cuz you don’t need to pay 90s)

$80 isn’t a lot of money to a lot of people. It’s a cosmetic item and one that xfers into retail as well. I still think paying for cosmetics is dumb… but it’s a staple in literally every game out there these days so :man_shrugging:

Pretty sure you get the epic too so it actually saves you a few hundred gold

You raise an interesting point. The fact that retail WoW is still going after 18 years is pretty remarkable. I don’t think many people would’ve guessed when they invested 8-10 days into the first 60 (if not more) they’d be able to play that character for the next 18 years. I think my original character is eligbile to be drafted now. That degree of “permanence” is very abnormal for an online game.

The reasons you talk about for thinking the $80 is a poor investment if WOTLK Classic is the end of the line is the main reason I argued for even higher accelerated XP gain than Joyous Journeys.

Why spend money on anything? Why have money?

I can spend $80 on a meal that I get to eat once, maybe have some leftovers the next day lol

People have weird views on money lol

go figure, people spend like 30.000 usd on illegal gold to buy week 1 bis pve items like war glavies or rank 1 arena rating lol.

People spend money on dumb crap, no different than people who dumb 100k into some dumb mobile game.

That is completely different. You spending money on food physically benefits you, and your health.

im here for a good time not a long time

I kinda get it for ppl who buy it with retail gold.

But yeah with actual cash hell no lol

Gas was $2.50 a gallon at tbc launch.

The boost and toys were $70

Gas is $4 a gallon now

The collectors edition is $80

Looking from this perspective I can say that the relative cost, when compared to other goods, is much less than it was in the past.

By using the US average fuel price as a benchmark for consumer goods I would have guessed that we could have expected to pay as much as $112 for the collectors edition.

Although I am not buying it, I would say this is a good value relatively speaking

people like myself who dont own (need) a car are so confused atm

Yeah, this is Econ stuff. It’s meant to simplify the CPI in a way that you may understand.

Obviously you don’t understand since this has nothing to do with actually owning a car.

I would probably troll somewhere else with that sock puppet. There really is nothing for you here.
