8 Mask stormwind run, doable on BM or just gear an alt

I recommend having Soridormi tank, she rocks. I’ve been doing the visions with my void priest, and she gathers up all the NPCs so I can hit them with my Shadow Crash. They do still throw one or two attacks my way, but 95% of the time she’s got aggro.

I don’t even know if it’s a class thing. Are you supposed to walk into the Mage Quarter and have infinite spawns running at you? You can’t ignore them, and if you kill them you just make them bosses.

Then you still have the normal packs with bigger groups, and mobs that Fear you, into the vision mechanic which stuns you. Literally no other pathway either.

Every other quarter felt tolerable if done slowly, but you can’t even take Mage Quarter slowly if there is only 1 entrance with floods of mobs instantly going at you.

They aren’t infinite (Or at least their spawn rate is very low) there are just a LOT of them.

Best strategy is to just hang back inside the canals and tag them as they come past for a minute or two, thin out the herd, then go to right towards the warlock.

Doing this I saw maybe 1-2 more sets as I was clearing out the portal keepers, I dealt with maybe 8 patrols before actually going into the mage quarter properly.

I used this approach, and it did help a little, but still extreme amount of inconsistency with the entrance mobs. They appear to be infinite until you clear the zone, but it becomes manageable if you get past entrance. LOS does not stop entrance mobs from casting mind flay, even if they don’t see you. If I charge forward, it’s a guaranteed disorientation from the vision’s mechanic. If I stand still, I just get flayed to oblivion.

Now I am entirely stuck on the boss, which every guide states it’s the hardest but says it’s possible to overcome if you interrupt missiles.

They say to interrupt the entropic missiles which is an obvious with the insane amount of sanity drain. This would be tolerable, if the puddle was all I had to worry about because I interrupted the missiles.

This was completely not true for me. AFTER interrupting the missiles, I was polyed, then got missiles AGAIN. And this happened to me with 3 attempts. I prefer the tank mage tower 100% over this. As stuns don’t work, and this is the sanity mechanic that kills me.

Doesn’t matter if I dodge ice barrage, if I can just be polyed, then missiles again in 5 seconds.

Orb + CDs, kick missiles, push phase.

Wait in the alcove out of line of the frost stuff til it ends naturally. Get polyd, kick next missiles, push boss to phase.

Sit in the alcove and pop an orb, then wait out the phase and kick whatever he casts next whilst nuking the last few %.

I went trade then mage then dwarf and finally old town. I used 2 orbs on umbric as a shadow priest with a 45s kick cd, then I went from 100 sanity back to full after clearing dwarf purely from bosses and hogger.

As mentioned elsewhere, 8 masks feels like a HUGE step up from 7 masks. Like, I can finish a 7-mask on my BM with ease. It’s even really doable with MM if I have Soridormi in tank mode (the extra mob HP doesn’t seem to cause a problem). But 8 masks? At 660 ilvl or so, fugheddaboudit. (Yes, I know, git gud, I should go kill myself etc etc, thanks typical forum-goer)

What specifically is the problem. Adding daredevil making umbric deal too much sanity and not having the burst at 660 to kill him before he kills you?

Or something else?
