8 mask is hard for all the wrong reasons

There’s no sanity management, no risk or need to go fast, just dying to autoattacks. It’s like early Torghast. None of the mechanics in the vision matter as much as the fact that I can’t survive single pack pulls. I have yet to make it to Mathias Shaw, because I keep dying to stealthed enemies that for some reason are immune to dots and AOE while stealthed. So I use Seed of Corruption and Vile Taint, then these guys pop out of stealth with no dots on them when I have nothing left, get bolstered to high heaven, and annihilate me. I know the mechanics, and I think I’m decently geared. I just can’t survive the damage from the combination of Bolstering and Teeming, two affixes that were removed from M+ even before the rework. Even using vers food and flask, my tank pet, healthstones, health potions, two defensives, and sitting for mini-eats of this woefully inadequate food between pulls like a PVP healer, I just cannot survive the regular damage.

The damage of the regular trash mobs vastly out scales all the bosses, its on par with Hogger (without any buff stacks). Not to mention the overall movement speed of the mobs, Hogger can keep with you with burning rush active sometimes.
Then there’s the poison the rogues put on you that adds like 1.5-2s to your gcd and slows you and your cast times by like 75%.
Let’s not even talk about the near infinite crawlers in the mage quarter at the start.

Skill issue.
Nemesis mask is literally a buff. People were able to do it last week without even using orbs.
Play an easier spec or learn to fully utilize your own.

I think that’s kinda the point. It’s not the optimisation focused speed clear it was in BFA it’s a slow slog where you just minimise risk at every turn and eventually win. It’s boring.

Saying “Skill issue” and “Play an easier spec” is funny. They don’t belong in the same sentence. If the content is scalable in difficulty based on the spec you play then the content is not skill based.

Blizzard has screwed this content up so much it’s honestly pathetic.

  • It’s reused content. That’s the going theme for the game overall. Let’s just recycle everything we’ve done because why not.
  • The abilities we had, specifically, to help combat this content (in it’s original form) were brought back at a severely reduced scale. Twlight, Stars, etc… not even a 10th of a what they were. These powers were essential to a successful clear in addition to all the buffs (including Gifts) when this stuff first came out.
  • With Multitudes active, some pulls have insane buffs from mob deaths. Certain combinations are a guaranteed death if they’re not nuked down properly and a single mistake is made. It’s not a “skill issue” if you can’t control how many come into combat.
  • Soridormi is 10x more harmful to a solo run than beneficial and about 10x worse in performance than Brann is in the Delves. Can’t do anything beneficial if she’s dead due to all the mechanics from forced pulls and scaling damage. Players are literally better off without this “aid”.

Yes, you are correct, people were clearing it last week. Again, “easier classes” and, in addition, they were 680+ with Myth track weapons and trinkets. The few friends that I’ve seen do it were BM hunters, Demon Hunters, Ret Paladins, and Balance Druids. Every single person that I personally know that cleared it also took several attempts to do so, ranging from 6 - 30+ pulls.

To sit here and imply that it’s doable just because the easier specs and max-geared players are able to do it is naive and short-sighted.

If the “solo player” content is not able to be cleared with every single spec in the game at a moderate level then it’s simply too difficult and/or poorly designed for the overall community. The player should be able to go into this … “content” … with any spec and class that they have available and clear it. I’m not saying that they should just walk in and auto-attack it to death but it shouldn’t require “easier” classes and 680+ to complete, either.

This is supposed to be “filler content”; something for fun to pass the time while we wait for the next season. There is absolutely no reason to make such content challenging. Blizzard just designs it that way for whatever reason knowing full well that 80% of the population can’t or won’t do it because they don’t play “the easier classes”, out gear it, etc. And you may think that I’m exaggerating - wait until this content is done and passed. Check the completion rate. I’ll be surprised if it surpasses 20% of the playerbase.

We’ll completely overlook how they absolutely broke the newly released Dastardly Duos scaling making it impossible to even run. Haven’t tried it lately so no clue if that’s been fixed. One can only imagine the issues we’ll face next week in the update to Delves.

But don’t worry; you can chalk up those faults and errors to “skill issue” as well.

What? It’s the exact same content, also just a lot easier.

Really isn’t a difference on how much you pull, it’s the same. You pull the most that your character can. Bolstering only goes up to 10, people are vastly overemphasizing the damage.

Same pulls as bfa you grab every mob in the first zone and pull it into the rare. Use defensives and pop your cooldowns, wow first area done in literally 20 seconds full sanity.

Also pretty sure you can group for the content, making it even more of a non issue.

The player power is marginal, I’m pretty certain you don’t need it for lfr or your weekly no leaver +3’s

This type of content pretty much displays class disparity in WOW. You’re 100% right about these classes/specs. BM effectively has to just not stand in bad while the pet does the work, DH have tons of sustain with leech, Ret has bubbles, insta-full heals, attacks that heal, etc. Meanwhile I make it through 8 mask Org just to have Thrall kill me via damage.

People can say skill issue and that’s fine, I’m sure I can be better and learn, no problem. But I’m 676 which as a mage, gives me about 9.4m life. I’m hit on auto attack for 600k, crit over 1.2m, can’t slow, can’t root, can’t kite, have to dps while being punched in the face and avoiding his specials (effectively instant death on 8 mask). I’m not even having a dps issue, it’s a can’t live long enough to dps one. My mirror images are gone in the first .5 seconds while I take out the boars, shield goes away pretty quickly. You get one health pot, alter time (which can end up screwing you with rng) and gg.

And an hour after posting this, I did it. Barely.

I was hoping Orgrimmar would be easier than Stormwind, as I remember it being, and both of my first attempts did make it to the last area, but both times I just got nuked down by regular trash pulls. I also lost my cheat death to a regular trash pull because I still had 10 seconds on a 30 second cooldown. I literally single pulled the pack before Rexxar and they just chewed through my voidwalker and nuked me through defensives, health pot, and healthstone. Even my stun couldn’t save me.

Old visions were about being fast and efficient with good pathing. Now it’s about standing around waiting for cooldowns to come back so you can blast down a 10 mob bolstering pack before they nuke you with autoattack damage. And it that sense, it’s a lot like early Torghast.

LOL…

so everything in WOW?

no, that’s just wrong.

You control your pulls and what you kill and how fast.

Pretty much, yes. I’ve fooled around with them a tad on my demo lock alt (673 IL) and certain things are light years easier with a pet, but other things I literally don’t know how I would do without blink or a super movement cd. When you’re in a situation with the copies that encircle you and a fear circle under you and puddles at the only exit AND a mob about to splat you for huge damage, I legit don’t know what you’re supposed to do if you can’t blink out. Yes, lock gate and teleport work, but are on MUCH longer cds and have to be positioned perfectly.

If you are dying to auto attacks in a Horrific Vision to mobs, pull less and go slower. If you are dying to auto attacks against a boss, get more leech, spec into more defensives, and spec into more healing. There’s ZERO chance you’re just getting deleted at your ilvl. Even on crumby alts, auto attack damage is a total non-issue.

If you’re dying to large amounts of damage, consider specing into the appropriate CC to deal with deadly mobs. There’s a few mobs in the visions that are a total priority, and not dealing with them immediately will make it feel like the world is coming down around you.

Visions are just as much a knowledge check of the instance as they are your class and talent kit. They are also a skill check to see if you know how to use your class/spec against what you’re up against.
