That’s why WOW isn’t the only MMORPG I play. I can fall to Everquest or FFXIV
I’m not just expecting extended maintenance.
I’m expecting lots of bugs and daily maintenance to fix whatever they broke during the extended maintenance, too.

The thing that bugs me with maintenance is the ‘overpromise and underdeliver’ approach. I totally get that the game needs maintenance and it doesn’t bother me that it has to go offline for such. I just don’t like extensions. I prefer when a maintenance estimate is longer than expected but then it’s concluded early because it turns out they didn’t need all that time after all. Unfortunately, that’s not how Blizzard does things. 
blizz owes me tree fiddy for down time.
Ever notice that movies, and games, and game patches for other games also come out on that day?

To counter weekend piracy
Fewer holidays on a Tuesday
Slowest retail day
Ancient record and book tradition
Dealing with weekend invoices on Monday
Last minute editor decisions for Friday sales
Interestingly though in Japan, things are released on a Sunday

The best part is even after it’s up there’s not much to do til next week
Tuesday is the best to have a work day.
Maintenance in progress while you work, watch the forums on breaks, and game is ready to play when you get home.

already got plans to do literally anything else, but, i absolutely will swing by the forums and mock all the crybabies complaining about patch day downtime
I do not worry about down times. I remember back after I started playing there was a 48 hour down time…perhaps before TBC launched.
I did not mind.
