Even the WF/TF system is better than this new corruption stuff. Stop force feeding us content and let us play what we want to play, if the content is fun people will play it.
I think he is more upset about Blizz going completely backwards after they claimed they have listened to the community about removing RNG from gear.
It’s not cool that they are doubling down on RNG, when it’s more than abundantly clear that gambling on gear feels so bad.
Personally I’m looking forward to the visions, but the corrupted gear just feels like a punishment for the community speaking out against Titan and War Forging. It’s like “Ok we will remove Titan and Warz but we’re going to replace it with an even more complicated system”.
That may not be their intent, but it’s how it feels.
Very much this, they’re basically taking WF/TF and dropping the RNG for forced content, it’s disgusting.
It’s like “Ok fine no more WF/TF but we’re going to make you regret it by forcing you to do x, y and z else you’ll be at a disadvantage.”
People should play the game because they ENJOY playing it, or WANT to unlock something not because if they don’t do X they’ll be at a huge disadvantage compared to someone who did when they do Y.
Mage towers were a great example of fun, optional rewarding content.
It’d be one thing if it only worked when doing assaults or something relevant to the corruption pieces, but when it works in PvP, M+ or raids where it SHOULDN’T be relevant, that’s forced.
TLDR; Forced Content bad, optional fun content good, Ion needs to resign.
Then people might as well quit the game entirely. The next patch relies heavily on that cloak. Which, if you noticed, was also a large part of what the OP mentioned.

As a casual now, I can’t comment yet on how Corrupted will affect me, if at all. But as a former progression raider, it feels like someone just did a /point, /laugh from what information I’ve gathered.
Exactly, that cloak is prime example of forced content we’re all going to be forced to grind it out if we want to use corruption gear.
People can say all they want that you don’t NEED the cloak to use corruption gear, but from what it sounds like the cloak will reduce the negative effects greatly aka forcing people to grind for the cloak or be at a disadvantage.
If they don’t enjoy it then it would be for the better for them.
Yes it is. If you want to participate in pushing content then you have to work for it. If you don’t want to push content then join a social guild, start collecting stuff, or start roleplaying.
It will affect everyone.
As a former progression raider I am looking forward to the gear.
Find something else to do in the game if you don’t want to participate. We have 15 years worth of content at our fingertips. I’m sure you can find something you enjoy.
Do you know what happens to this game if everyone didn’t participate in content they didn’t enjoy.
I probably will actually do what you say though because I can’t stand the thought of grinding out those assaults. The uldum one is just terrible - haven’t tried the vale on yet but can’t imagine it will be any better.
This is not true. You don’t need this gear to participate in many activities in the game. If you aren’t willing to work and grind for the end reward then find something else that you don’t need the reward to participate in.
You’re either trolling or incredibly dense, can’t tell which.
So if I want to do arenas, I should be required to get my cloak and spam horrific visions in order to compete because I’ll be at a disadvantage compared to Jimmy Caeven who likes the cloak grind/horrific visions spam?
That’s the definition of forced content, again L2Logic.
And then what, exactly, would you like for them to do?
There’s a difference between enjoying the game and having something be such a core part of any and all end game that you don’t have a choice if you want to do any of the end game content at any level. Let’s not be naive here. Even without raiding, anything new is based on that cloak. And with raiding, it’s all based on the RNG of corrupted gear, which is based off that cloak.
This isn’t some side part to a part of the content. It’s the major component to all content in the next patch.
High End Arenas, M+ and Raids will though which is my point.

Inb4 “bUt yoUrE a CasUaL”, click my profile you’ll see high end pvp titles and some mythic progression achievements. Does it look like I do WQs, LFR, Mog Collecting, Mount hunting? No.
Doesn’t matter WHAT level the contents being gated, corruption is still gating content therefore is forced content.
Whatever makes them happy and they find enjoyment here. I can’t make them enjoy the game or else I would.
Not everyone enjoys everything that every patch has to offer. if we weren’t getting this gear then the forum masses would complain about whatever else we would have gotten instead. Outrage is just part of the forum, it’s no wonder Blizzard employees don’t comment and mingle with us here anymore.
That’s right, everyone who wants to participate in said content.
Those are all optional content. There is other stuff to do.
