I think what would be fun, would be a “peaceful demonstration”:
Everyone get the water walker mount equipment,
then still only use either of the water striders.
I could imagine people at Blizzard exploding with rage.

Not sure how you came to that interpretation…
Striders aren’t OP, nerfing them is stupid and mean.
We have the freedom to choose ground, flying or swimming mounts as situation dictates. Why is having the freedom to choose a water striding mount such a problem?
Why must it be all or nothing?
This while thing stinks of cover up… Like something about Najzatar totally broke the smart mount selection of the [summon random favorite mount] button in a way that was too difficult to fix… So they’re just removing the problem code entirely this way with this stupid change.
I don’t know.
Why my flying mount can’t fly? Why the mountain horse can’t walk on edgy areas? Why i don’t get burned when mounting a fiery phoenix?
I agree. Ok, sorry, must of misunderstood your post then.
Probably because the people that decide how the game works aren’t the same people that decide how the game looks.
I doubt they even communicate much anymore.
Did a couple of WQs yesterday, it was a sea of players on water striders.
I honestly hope this change kills the mount, we have seen enough of it, for real.
yeah ok so we all did the fishing thing and ground it out, good for us, lets move on.
Good points. In my opinion, we need more mount diversity in this game, not mount homogenization. Mounts that leap long distances, mounts that can scale walls, mounts that can survive falls, mounts that can walk on lava, and mounts that can walk on water (ahem). With just a little creativity, we could have a really cool mount system.
Instead, we’re getting this iteration of mount equipment, which strips away mount diversity, homogenizes all mounts per character, and is quite frankly, bland and boring.
And we’re losing our striders in the bargain. No bueno, Blizzard.
Mount equipment could have been a great way to inject some much needed RPG elements back into the game, but sadly, it just limits choices.
I’m going to use the water strider mount almost exclusively then when 8.2 hits. Why should you care about what other people use? Mind your own business.
What’s the point of calling a mount a boat when it can’t float?
Don’t like them? Don’t look at them.
That’s a severe lack of creativity on Blizzard’s part, and a missed opportunity.
I am pretty certain that they do communciate a lot.
Its a billion worth company.
I guess they got tired of having hundreds of mounts in the game and people only using the water striders when out in the world for the last 3 expansions.
If so, then why didn’t they create more water walking mounts? Instead, they’re taking ours away. Ridiculous.
Player: No, you do this and it will ruin the game
Blizzard: Too bad, we can’t allow you to have fun anyways.
Pun intended, obviously.
Well, I’m glad for you that Blizzard isn’t wasting effort on the mountain of unaddressed and more serious problems with BFA just so that you can be triggered less often by water bugs in the future.
Blizzard knows best.
Maybe if less of that were going into top-exec’s pockets they’d make better design decisions.
The art is great… but it’s lipstick on a pig at this point given that the planning team is just phoning it in at this point.
I hereby want to start the official protest about Carrot on a Stick and how it was removed
…seriously people, yes it sucked farming the Strider, but how many expansions has it been? You still keep the mount, just an ability of the mount is being removed to make way for a new system in the game. If they didn’t remove water walking, it would throw the whole new system out of whack, as people would get water walking + one of the other abilities for their mount.
Also your getting water walking right back in your mail box…
1 mount, 1 special ability.
Yeah, I am so prepared for that… Let me find the unsubscribe button.
