So I just tried the essences on PTR and vision of perfection and lucid dreams are quite a delight. If you pick Vision of perfection as your major essence your wings cooldown is reduced by 17%, and your attacks have a chance to trigger wings (applying the first tv/ds crit buff aswell) and reducing the cooldown by 17% when it triggers. And it triggers quite a lot. I had it triggers 3 times in a row and then my cooldown was ready again and I could use normal wings for a good amount of 80sec of wings straight.
This of course works with crusade and your stacks dont drop off if it procs while you jad crusade on, and the feeling of having 60% haste for 1min is making the gameplay so smooth and fast, just a shame that haste doesnt reduce the gcd like before.
Now if you pick Lucid Dreams as your minor essences your attacks have a chance to refund 50% of the holy power costs (it gives you back 2 holy power) heals you for 15k and gives 300-400 versatility for around 6 seconds. Combined with either high uptime crusade and wings it makes our dull and clunky rotation super fast and interesting and also dynamic with divine storm proc. High uptime on wings also gives us high usage of hammer of wrath for even faster holy power generation.
Also worth noting that avenger’s might and light’s decree will become the 2 best traits if they stay the same because with such a high uptime they will give so much more value than any other trait.
I really hope those two traits stay the same for gameplay sake because it is really fun.

I’m right there with you friend. Ret is actually playable and fun with this, not to mention powerful and strong outside of a 2m window. You know it and I know it won’t last. Enjoy it while it can and feel the rare joy of Ret as it should be.

Haste will reduce the GCD all the way down to 0.75s. Not sure what you mean by " just a shame that haste doesn’t reduce the gcd like before.".
My bad I meant to say reduce the cooldown of abilities
It reduces the cooldown of Crusader Strike, Blade of Justice, Judgment, and Hammer of Wrath.
That’s hysterical, but I suspect it’s not going to last after today’s blue post.
So far what i see is that this makes everyone’s big CD baseline damage as the cool downs are going to become so short that the up time on it is 75% of fights. Honestly if this made it to live I would say it is the counter to the poor GCD changes they have implemented.
As a prot paladin I will be capable of having wings up every 45 seconds not counting random procs.
my only complaint is threat issues.
tanks are pretty much required to have DPS cooldowns to hold AOE threat on a ret pally using wings even if you get no divine storm procs.
this will be fun until you keep dying to aoe mobs just looking at you funny for 1 second and then your wings are gone.
the only tank that can hold threat on a ret pally is getting nerfed with 8.2 as well so they are just gonna have to give us like a 30 second cooldown blessing of sanctuary if this goes live or we will just have to be forced to single target m+ during wings and rotate targets while the tank taunts off us.
