8.2 Engineering Goggles

So i want to make sure I understand the 8.2 engineering… I have 415 goggles from the last patch that are 420 with all traits.

If i want to upgrade in 8.2, I need to level my engineering to 170, buy the 415 plan and make it? I already have a pair of 415 goggles, why would I make them again?

Oh, and wait, with my current goggles, my engineering skill is 175, but… its really 150. If that is so, why have them boost the skill if it doesn’t mean anything?

I just want to make sure that this was actually implemented on purpose and I’m not just misunderstanding…

Because the base version of those new goggles upgrades all the way to 440. Your old ones will remain at 420.

Just feels like they’d let you use your maxed out previous goggles to get the the 430 version vs. getting the 415. Wishful thinking. I still don’t understand the added skill points that appear to be meaningless. I guess i’d like some kind of transition from the previous version to the new version…

The added skill on the lower goggles was purely to be able to “loot” components in The Motherlode for the engineering mount. No other reason.
