The trinket bonus has been pretty controversial ever since it became a thing in BC.
But anyway, the answer is we do not know. Right now the highest trinket is 440, 5 ilvl under base raid Mythic. It does currently have a gem slot, presumably to make up for the ilvl difference, but this may not actually make it to live.
Yes, that’s why my Fury warrior doesn’t use it, but that means your Grong’s is NOT as good as the Alchemy trinket.
You absolutely can depending on the trinket. Ilvl isnt the end-all be-all.
