I understand that. But 8.1 has so many changes that are so obvious that it's hard to understand how these things had to be added later on.

Legion was superior in every way to BFA. I would not have minded one bit to stay there for 3-6 more months.

Exactly. People were actually surprised at the release date when it was announced because it didn't seem like enough time. Turns out they were 100% correct.

No it'll still be there. Like it was during BC and onward.
On the plus end. we're getting tons of changes and no dev side projects passed off as content.
Still with bugs and crappy class balance? Yep, sounds like BFA release.

At the cost of MANY subs...I know my 2 are expired before 8.1 and I have no plans to return until Classic arrives. The core of the game is broken and a patch wont change it.

You're kidding, right? Every expansion and every patch has those. That's why Blizzard tuned them out so long ago. Oh excuse me, I mean "stopped listening to player feedback". (Which is BS, speaking as someone who reported dozens of bugs and annoyances in beta that actually *didn't* make it to launch).
Everyone who is now saying Legion was so great, meaning 7.4, is forgetting all the 7.0 complaints about talent and legendary balance (some of which were legit, it's an inevitable part of the expansion cycle).
The idea that if they had just waited a little longer the expansion would have launched in a state of balance perfection is and always has been dumb.
8.1 feels a lot like 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, 5.1... The launch of each expansion has always contained the new levels, dungeons, and a raid. The X.1 usually has a raid, some balance fixes, and some story content. Nothing new here.
