8.1.5 The Dark Lady Calls. The quest has been removed?

I wondered if it was still possible to do the quest because Dark Ranger Alina does not offer it to me anymore.

I was waiting to advance in the quest to keep it for later. I hope it’s still possible to do it.

Anyone have any information on this?

Yesterday Dark Ranger Alina offered me the quest on this character but not today.

is war campaign done?

Reason asking is she disappeared for my hunter for a while. I banged out a lingering war campaign quest and she came back.

I actually meant to back sylvanas in case something comes up to make choice matter. Backed saurfang again (dh main went orc side) though not thinking too. Maybe the now leveling 3rd char to hit 120 one day horde side can back the dark lady just to do/see it all.

I have not finished the campaign but I can see Dark Ranger Alina and Sylvanas is not on the boat. I have the impression that I am in the right phase to get the quest especially that I could still get it yesterday. I hope it’s just a progress issue in the campaign because it’s a very important quest and I really wish I could do it.

i think there is a problem in general with quests not showing up. i have encountered several across multiple toons.

I think the quest has been intentionally removed in favor of adding the new Baine quest, and then the Baine quest will be removed come 8.2.

Sucks because Blizzard never said anything about these quests only being available for a limited time.

Of course it also could be a bug as well. Hopefully.

Did you do any of this since 8.1.5 launched? I’m concerned that the Saurfang questline has been made obsolete without any warning that this questline was going to be removed.

I hope this isn’t the case. It was an interesting quest and I never got around to doing it on certain characters.

Well, it just proves that picking said side- never had any meaning or consequences (story wise). It was obsolete to start with and was only meant to cause division and disdain within the horde player base.

That’s assuming that it’s not a bug but-- I am willing to bet it’s not.

Important quest lines don’t just get “dumped” for no reason. Unless they weren’t important to start with.

Well there is some good news. According to a comment I read on Wowhead, the quest “The Dark Lady Calls” is still available, but now requires you to advance past the part of the War Campaign where you reanimate Derek Proudmoore’s body.

Hopefully that’s true, though I’ll find out when I finish the War Campaign on Horde. Otherwise, it’s back to complaining about it being gone for no good reason or any warning.

Good news. I hope it’s true.

It would be frustrating not to be able to do this quest.

Let me see if I understand (And maybe others can explain this):

Originally, the quest was an extension of events with Saurfang. No matter if you did or didn’t pick a side there, they then move it forward in the time line, to an extension of Baine.
So (sided with or not. Meaning, what blizzard believes is canon) Saurfang has been written out/removed and there is nothing more in that regard? And now they are moving onto Baine next and most likely, will have the same result?
Then it will be moved to the next leader (Theron/Gallywix).

To me, this seems to confirm that he is gone and there will be no follow up on this part of the quest line. Idk. This kind of bothers me.

It’s the exact same quest but moved forward in the time line. Right?

Assuming that they did just change the requirement (and not outright remove the questline without warning) it’s still terrible. (Just not as terrible as outright removing it.)

First, changing the requirements for the questline without warning is poor design. Players shouldn’t have to start testing to see why a quest that was available one day isn’t on another. Not documenting changes like this is just sloppy.

Second, changing a story element to happen at a different point in the timeline is also terrible. I mean, having it happen after she raises Proudmoore could change how a character views the Saurfang stuff. It actually changes the story. That’s the sort of thing that kills my immersion. (Not say, being able to move conveniently around the world when I want to.)

Third, the questline now requires killing a raid boss, where before it didn’t. Can’t say I’m looking forward to dragging alts through 3 bosses of LFR.
