7900 xtx gpu

Is anyone else having issues with freezing and screen going black with this GPU?

Sounds like your GPU is dying

Sounds like your GPU is coming to the end of it’s life. Doesn’t sound like a general GPU problem.

Have you tried updating the driver? Because that could be it, i have friends with the same GPU and they have zero problems.

Also, if you have another HDMI or other port, switch to that, because they do wear out.

Yeah I just went through this haha. Same exact symptoms, it actually lines up with a bad motherboard almost. But usually motherboard gives BSOD or a light on the board itself.

I tested my PSU being bad and it was fine, so I finally just ruled it down to the GPU since MOBO was fine with lights

OP I had 100% your problem, what does windows event viewer say?

I’m 99% sure it’s the GPU  it’ll only get worse btw, where even leaving your Pc on for 10-20 mins will cause it to crash on desktop.

My final diagnosis to determine it wasn’t motherboard, I booted it in safe mode no GPU, and let my PC sit all day, didn’t crash at all.

Card is brand new, driver is up to date, old drivers removed with DDU

It definitely happens being sent a bad new GPU. They should take it back and replace it.

But yea if you don’t mind the headache, remove the GPU let it run, or put in an old one if possible and try playing to rule it out.

Windows event viewer might lead you to a bad PSU.

Have you done a windows memory diagnostics?

Hmmm, might suggest you taking it to a computer store where they can have the tools to then fully check. Could be a bad connection of the GPU, could also be the HDMI Cable or Display Port cable, (which ever one you’re using). Honestly, as I said, it does sound like the GPU could be dying, but then I could also be wrong.

You can also buy a PSU tester for 16$, can plug in PSU cables give it a test see if it’s sending the correct voltage.

But I’d still lean on a faulty GPU, if your ram isn’t corrupted, and no lights/physical damage on MOBO.

It actually is getting worse. Multiple freezes during BGs it’s literally unplayable. My 3060ti didn’t have problems like this at all.

Windows event viewer? I Don’t think I have this.

Then yeah I would say a faulty GPU 100% especially if your last card didn’t have these problems.

You should have windows event viewer if you’re running windows it’s default

Search it, open it, and go to system and you can see logs from there what went on when the error occurred.

YEAH, if you can send it back still, I highly recommend it. I got a new AMD 390X back in 2015 and it gave me the same issues out the gate. Got it repolaced and everything was good to go.

Same thing happened in late 2018 with a 1080ti.

It happens and can be very annoying. Its also why I keep two GPUs on hand nowadays!

Currently using a 7800 XT.

what CPU are you rocking?

So what you experienced I 100% experienced with my GPU. Older one the 6700 XT OC. Swapped it in store with a new one and no issues. I agree that it’s likely a faulty GPU.

It’s built into windows. So unless you’re running on linux, you’ve got it.
