They also removed the “install this at your own risk” legaleaze from the Bios Update Page lol. Since I am on the X670e Strix user, I can confirm this. I realize this was done ONLY because they were called out. The same thing happened with Gigabyte and their exploding power supplies. Only after being called out did they change their stance.
This is why NO ONE should ever be a fanboy or fangirl of a Brand. None of these companies are your friends. Nor are they sports teams to root for. ALL of these companies will screw you over if you give them the chance. I will continue to buy what ever makes the most since for me at the time of my build. Regardless of brand for this reason.
About that… I found out a buddy has a x670 ROG Hero Motherboard. One of this Bios updates burned his 7950x3D. BOTH AMD and Asus covered his RMA. AMD even did cross shipping. Asus sent it FEDEX 2-Day prepaid label. Then Sent his new one out to him FedEx 2-day. He said within a week he had a new CPU and new Motherboard.
This was 3 weeks go. So I am not sure how much validity there was about them denying RMAs? If they were actually doing that then Asus would have denied his RMA but they didnt. We havent really heard they were denying RMAs all we had to go off of was their verbiage on their Bois Page. But I guess thats a slight bit of good news in Asus’s Favor or maybe he just reached a super Nice Customer Service rep who decided to take good care of him. Who knows. Maybe they were preping to start moving in that direction due to all the RMAs they were getting. Then when the GamersNexus video went viral they recanted that decision? Just speculating here.
What Most Likely Really Happened
It seems like most of what happened was miscommunication or rather COMPLETE LACK of communication from Asus HQ in Taiwan and the US offices which is where the Legal Department is. Legal of course if they dont have an answer; which they didnt because Taiwan had not responded they of course know one course of action. “Say Nothing”. So its was one big communication mess. This as we saw CAN AND WILL cause a HUGE issue! Which left many people during the mess people were making assumptions and jumping the gun as people often do and Rightly so!
A lot of people dont know that with Asus the US officers have 0 decision making power and a lot of the time they are sitting there in the dark waiting for an answer from Taiwan. Taiwan makes all the decisions. I think this Video explains the situation pretty well. I have it Qd to the spot where they start talking about it.
