I’ll let you on a secret - most roleplayers here started playing as teens/20s in 2005-6. You’ll here a ton of idiot stuff from 18-25 year olds that somehow think that WoW is entirely them.

Check out my guild. We have a wide range of ages, but most importantly we have family values, respect kid and partner issues, and run TIGHT raids with hard timelines (plus other PVE stuff on the side)
You’ll spend two hours with us and get four hours done - plus we support each other with education, gold, gear, and (guns) if you need it.
We are LGTBQIA friendly - our GM and many members are married and we have a good time w/o ever talking real world politics YET manage to work as a team and have fun.
There are many other guilds on WRA like this - so read these threads and find one that fits you as the last thing you need is to be in a bro-guild with a bunch of 17 year olds who can’t raid under 4 hours or RP their way out of a paperbag.

Annveigl, welcome to WoW! You can totally find some great guilds on this server who are more than happy to help you get comfortable in dungeon or raid groups if that’s what you’re interested in!
As for RP, I know what you mean about coming across the cybersex things, but it is definitely avoidable! If you’re interested in giving (good, clean) RP a chance, there are plenty of groups with amazing storylines! If you’d prefer a small group that is happy to teach you the ropes on RP (and PVE/PVP!) and are also adults who understand that real life always comes before WoW, I will do some digging! I know there are more than a few on this server.
My own guild is one of them, and I hate to shamelessly promote it but we’re currently very small and working on building a tight-knit group. It’s a judgement-free zone of adults who have played the game a LONG time and are happy to help new players learn the ropes. Feel free to check us out at the link below!

Welcome to the server!! A long time ago, I got into WoW as a way to keep in touch with my family and my father did the same over seas and ever since then he’s always played. He’s never been one to do raids or dungeons so you’re not alone in that aspect!! There are a lot of people who are stupid, but that happens in just about any space I suppose…

Hey! grats on retirement! and I hope your children are doing well, I can’t help you much on horde, but if you ever make an alliance toon, we have some older members in my guild.
Older player here too but have been in wow 15 yrs (not a raider). I know nothing about RP, I actually was visiting servers hoping to find one that is not political fighting constantly and/or vulgar talking. Where are the adults? In reading this forum apparently there are RP groups that do cybersex? I do NOT want that! Would like a ‘family friendly’ surrounding, if such a thing is possible. I have been mostly pleased with both ally and horde sides. I prefer horde side for pvp. I just /who old soles and there is no one on with that guild.
The easiest solution is to put ‘no ERP’ in your RP reading addon of choice. The holidays are still coming to a close so it’s to be expected that guild activity in general is low.
Don’t give up, use the guild finder and see if they’re on that and post an application to them.
Hey curious if you found a guild yet? If not just wanted to vouch for the folks at kalimidor logistics, they are a small but growing group of kind hearted folks. Also if you need bags for your character I would be happy to send you some.
