Hello WoWaholics,
I have played since Beta Vanilla and I have played many MMORPGs since 1996. The most influential was DAoC (Dark Ages of Camelot). This game had 3 factions with 8 player groups. They also had what’s called open RvR which was epic. Hundreds of players attacking each other and taking castles. If your realm held a certain amount of castles you gained access to special dungeons and events. Your realm also gained a buff.
I love WoW a lot. I have seen massive ques and a world filled with people and now my server is pretty much dead. This post maybe long so if your one of those people that doesn’t have the attention span past 30 sec TikTok videos then this maybe not the post for you.
Topics. Factions, Specs, Game Play, sever ques & AI Technology, Guild Housing, No more Leveling, Hero Specs
Blizzard is going one way it seems when it comes to factions. Seems like we are all getting along. Which is fine. But I want to offer a different way. What if the undead branches off. The undead would have all races to choose from which means all specs to choose from. Imagine undead Dwarf or Tauren. Then the rest can become the living faction.
Grandeur we need more of this. We need events like the following. IronForge being attacked by a 5,000 Goblin army from deep within. Or Org being attacked by a 100 ft giant cyclops. We need weekly and daily events that just happen randomly and drop massive amounts of items and gold. We need random places to be attacked at random times and rip items making it worth people grouping up and defending the area. We need WAR back into WARcraft.
Game Play. We need to stop leveling every expansion. Implement Gear and Weapons as the main source of gaining strength. For example Rings can be permanently legendary and as you do epic things like compete all quests in an entire expansion you get points to spend to level up your rings. So say they make the ring when you first get it iLVL 400 but the player who got it has 100% of all achievements done that ring would be iLVL 600. So at 50% achievements completed it would be iLVL 500. This is just an example of what can be done.
No more alts unless you want one. Allow players to level any spec. So if your a Warrior on your character but wanted to try a Druid you then go to the druid trainer and ask to be trained. You then go to level 1 and level up. You only have to do this once. So if you want to try shaman then you start at level 1 but go back to warrior you will go back to whatever the max level is. This way more players will try things like taking or healing if they don’t have to be on a different character. This is one of the biggest reason why we lack tanks and healers.
PVP vs PVE gear. Eliminate this. If you get a legendary weapon for example for PVE then why does this weapon suck in PVP? In Vanilla and several expansion beyond that gear was gear. You can get a great piece of gear from pvping and use it in pve and visa versa. By separating the gear you forced players to chose a play style either pvp or pve not both unless you didn’t work and have a family then you could put the time in for both. But for everyone else you have to chose. Which is ridiculous. I loved being able to run raids and pvp without having to have separate gear for both. If you truly need stats for just pvp then put in every piece of gear a pvp stat % increase.
Specs and game play. We need specs that focus on CC (Crowd Control). Yes we have some classes that have a few abilities to do this but it’s nothing like before. In a 5 player group you use to need a player who could CC an enemy while the rest DPSed the other enemies. We need that back. Their are many classes that could gain a 4th spec that is focused on CC. 5 player groups could become 6 player groups. Example a spec for Mages can be a Mesmer who uses crowd control AOE and single target. This mage could attack the mind. Making enemies freeze in place or attack their allies. This mage class can send out spirits that attack the mind or will to attack. They can lower stats and whatnot. This would give those players who enjoy CC and Buffing classes that they would enjoy playing. It would relieve healers who are forced to heal, DPS, cure dots and CC.
6 player groups would give a more dynamic group. You would have a Tank that focuses on Tanking. Your Healer would heal. Then you would have your 2 pure dpsers. But then you can have a Hybrid and CCer. Someone who enjoys being a jack of all trades and likes to DPS, heal and off tank. Then you can have a player who enjoys buffing and CCing. Something like a Bard or Skald. Someone who sings and plays music to CC and Buff their friends. This player could off heal with songs, they can lock enemies with magic or shouts. They can buff speed and recovery stats. So having one would make everyone regenerate their HP and Mana faster, swing your weapons faster, cast faster and increase overall stats. These CC classes would fill a role that some players desperately want.
Servers and AI Technology. Something we didn’t have back when WoW first came out was AI Technology. What can AI Technology do for WoW? Well for one they can implement real time language translation. This means they can combine servers into just two servers one pve server and one role playing server. This would fix servers not being populated. It would allow people to interact with people all around the world. People can become friends from Japan, America, Australia, UK, France, Mexico, etc. Blizzard can keep regional log in servers and combine servers for cities to help with population in certain cities. Each zone can have servers that work together to manage lag and population. I am sure a company that for every one million players makes $12,000,000 roughly a month can figure out how to cluster their servers to accommodate thousands of players in one zone. Especially with today’s technology.
Guild Housing. It is time for Guilds to be able to buy plots of land within the world’s of warcraft. Let guilds and players create towns and cities. Offer for example a house that can be upgraded a few times which eventually becomes a castle or whatever. Depending on the zone your in will determine what your house looks like. Several looks can be chosen from to give people a choice. What would happen in these guild houses. Well of course your guild can teleport to them and they gain triple XP boost. They gain maybe 1.5 times money from selling and items are cheaper. But my main idea is this. To allow players to log out in these guilds and the characters are still logged in. So if your a warrior and a Weapon smith your character will craft weapons while you are away. If course you set up how many you craft. However if some random person comes along and goes into the shop and asks for a weapon your character will make it. This would increase your skills as well. The good thing about this would be that your guild sets price increases by percentages so you may only charge like a 5% increase to a weapon while other guilds charge 10-25%. So people will go to your guild for weapons. Then people start to know your guild and your crafters. So why do this? Well your guild gets a small % of the money so your guild now has a money making system. This money can go to helping new players by offering free or heavily discounted items. This would open so much more to the game. It would also allow players to make their own cities and towns all over the world.
Hero Specs. Within each Class you have specs. What I think needs to be the next big thing is Hero classes within each spec. I will use two examples. Warriors for example Prot spec will have two Hero specs. You can spec more of a DPS tank by using a Polearm in one hand and a Shield in your off hand. Or you can become a true Tank and be able to use a shield in both hands. You do less DPS however you gain all that armor from the second shield. Shield slam uses both shields to dps. Another hero spec could be say Enh Shaman. You have the typical DPS shaman who learned to dual wield 2h weapons in each hand. The other hero spec Enh Shaman goes is Tank. You call upon earth to aid you. You cover yourself in stone and wield a 1h weapon and shield. You use earth shock for taunting. Chain lightning to pull. Totems to buff your party. Hero specs will make it so we would have 76 playable specs. Currently their are 13 specs. 10 have 3 specs, 2 have 2 spec and 1 has 4 specs. That’s 38 playable specs. Currently we have Tanks, Healers and DPS. I would make 6 player groups and make it so you needed 2 different classes. Make one spot for Hybrids and one spot for CCers/Buffers. We need to give specialization back. Tanks should not be healing groups. Healers should not be dpsing. We should have pure DPS. But we should also have a group of people who enjoy being a jack of all trades a hybrid who can off tank, heal, DPS. Then a new type of player a player who CCs and Buffs maybe off heals as well. This person would make sure to lock a single.or group of enemies. They would cast 30-60 second buffs and lower stats of enemies.
No more Leveling. So we have leveled 10 levels for every expansion. We got to level 120 then they squished back down. Soon they will get back to level 120. So what we will squish again? Then what we get to 120 again and squish again? Or can we simply stop leveling after we reach say level 100? Then after we level just give skill points by completing achievements and doing tasks. This would give people a reason to go back and complete achievements if they get points to increase their stats with. Also gear and weapons would make a player better. Dungeons can be iLVL based. So iLVL 100 gets you in the first 3 expansions then iLVL 200 the next few expansions and so on. Once we are caught up to this iLVL each expansion can have gear that goes up say 50-100 iLVLs. You can also have the non primary items like necklace and rings can be legendary and these items can be upgraded every expansion to 25 iLVL points above whatever the current iLVL is. So if it’s iLVL 500 then these items would max out at iLVL 525. Just so they maintain the legendary status.
This would also make it so past dungeons and raids matter. They give you points to spend once you complete achievements and gear from them can be used and upgraded if the blizzard team wanted to do this. They could also allow iLVL gear to be on par with what’s offered now. Imagine being able to do epic raids of the past that drop iLVL 400+ items. All that hard work Blizzard employees put into previous raids would not go to waste anymore. People can raid Molten Core again. Or at least make it so you get points to spend on gear upgrades.
