If I leave Zul’Gurub, do I have to do the altars again or does it save my progress until I come back?
I know this was made four hours ago, so I don’t know if you still need an answer, but just in case you or anyone else might need one, the short answer is no. As far as I can tell and from what I heard, once you complete an alter (which is signified by the spirit vanishing) the game recognizes you have completed that step and will remember, and that includes if you need to leave the area/map for one reason or another.
So, you can leave and return to your previous position. Though that being said, I do not know if there’s a hidden timer, or if after so many hours or a day, it resets, but if you need to leave the area for a short period it shouldn’t be a problem.
Again, this is what I heard from others. But it would make sense to be able to come back if need be since its possible a player might not have the items needed to complete one or more alters. I can understand why they made this challenge proximity based like the second Orb challenge.
