It looks beautiful, until you mount it. It weirdly stays stretched out for the ground and flight animations (don’t like) and I don’t like the placement of where your toon sits on the mount either. The mount “at rest” “still” animation doesn’t look good either. It should have a “coiled” movement look to the mount, raised off the ground like a striking Cobra with a saddle off of the back of its neck. I actually hate this mount. Can I trade up for a previously offered mount reward? The old RAF Bi-plane?

I was very let down too
Alas the art department seems to only put effort into making flowers, dresses and prissy butterfly mounts now
They have a super cavalier attitude about traditionally cool/war-like things and they’re are usually poorly designed and rushed out without a second thought

I mean damn they REALLY need to correct the things I mentioned. The “mount special” is cool but it’s not enough to sell it. I want to trade it or they can actually keep it, it sucks too bad to be in my collection

I was so psyched for this one personally as the original “greyed out” image appeared to show it slithering along the ground.
The model could then be utilized for all kinds of slithering ground mount animations.
Turns out it’s just constantly flying.
I know it’s alot of extra work but it would have been really nice.

I clicked on the present, unwrapped it and added it to my collection, never to probably be seen again.
It does seem rather odd.
I think it looks great. Let’s be real, “wood snake” isn’t the easiest brief to meet. I think they did very well indeed. It looks wooden where it needs to but with the ornateness we expect from these lunar new year mounts. I still think wood dragon last year is number one though.
It must be said though, they lose major marks for not giving it a ground animation! That would have been awesome, and something we’ve never seen before.

It does, it uses the cloud serpent skeleton.
The cloud serpents move up and down while in motion, which is fine because they’re meant to be flying. This doesn’t work with a snake that’s supposed to move side to side.
There’s also the issue with 1. the body being too fat at the top, and 2. not long enough.
So you have a mount that doesn’t look like a snake, doesn’t move like a snake and doesn’t act like a snake… Oh, and there’s its hiss which doesn’t sound anything like a hiss.

I disagree here. It actually looks like copper. The “wood” actually has a metallic sheen to it, and the top portion looks like its been oxidized. The “ornateness” looks like brass. So all in all you have a floating legless lizard made of metal.
It is a unique mount… gaudy, but unique. If people like it I’m happy for them, but this was a miss for me.
Fun thing, if you imagine the mount has legs where a lizards legs would be, it makes much more sense visually.

I am Year of the Snake. I enjoy it. And it’s different enough from a real snake that I can use it around my friends who are ophidiophobic.

Not a fan of this one, though a slithering ground animation would have improved it. I’d prefer one of the large green snakes from Pandaria.

It looks like a clay model painted in pastel colors (sadly this is how everything now looks even transmog)… Looks like something they would put on the trading post, not something that you should get for a 6 month commitment.
It’s wood. Not clay. Because it’s the Year of Wood Snake.
And it’s the same style of armor that we always get with the Lunar New Year mounts.
The entitlement is real.

It’s 10 out of 10 on me. It looks cool. I have it and I like it. But Mounts are already bloated in the game. It so happened I pay my Subscription that way so I could get free goodies like this one.
Other subscription mounts looks way more awesome. But I never see them used. What’s the point if it looks awesome when it’s not your chosen mount? We can only use one mount at a time.

It’s not good imo
They keep “recycling” the Yulon/Astral Serpent skeleton and it’s kinda annoying. I would have liked an actual snake/slither on the ground, for example
