I think the incentive route is the way to go. Advancement should still happen upon losing. Winning should only speed advancement up. Rework the rating system completely. Esports is dumb anyway.

Itâs insane how there are folks out there that actually get gud feelies from this, but then again, there are all kinds of âissuesâ out there.
The problem with any banning solution is that itâs impossible to distinguish people who are leaving from people who are d/cing or have an emergency, and neither of the latter should risk a ban, however short. Unless weâre talking just a matter of minutes/hours. But that doesnât work as a discouragement of leavers, because theyâll just log on another character.
The only possible solution as far as I see it is a steeper rating penalty for leavers than a 0/6, because a lot of people are leaving at 0/5 anyway, since leaving at that point is just expediting their expected 0/6 rating loss. Leaversâ rating penalty needs to go beyond 0/6.
The banning thing was a joke/meme.
