6 hours or 30 instance lockout for BGs

Since blizzard has determined that you should not be playing more than 6 hours worth of instances, are you going to put in a pvp cap so people don’t have to sit in BGs for 12 hours a day?

Yes please, and limit one AV per day, to increase gameplay quality. No one will afk if they can only do ONE AV per day.

This would be amazing where wins mean more than frequency.

It’s unhealthy for people to do bg’s for more than a few hours each day, plus it encourages botting/premade boosting. So hopefully blizzard helps us all out and takes away the temptation by limiting how many we can do per 24 hours.

As a thought experiment, what would actually happen?

First, the three BGs are not equal. AV typically lasts from 30 minutes to an hour, weighted on the 30 minutes side. Honor per hour is variable by faction here – Alliance get maybe 1k bonus honor and Horde might get 5k with a win. HK honor is variable, with a heavy clash at SHGY often resulting in 200hks with low average honor per hk, so let’s call it 2k more HK honor. Final result: 3k honor/45 minutes Alliance with nearly no queue or 4500 honor per hour, and 5k honor/45 minutes Horde but with a long queue or 2500 honor per hour. But from a lockout standpoint, Alliance get 3k honor for the lockout and Horde get 5k honor for the lockout – but there’s no way either side can fit 30 of these in a day. Horde can probably max 6 AV lockouts in an 18 hour play day for 30,000 honor, Alliance with a similar 18 hour possible play day could max out at 24 AV in a day for 72000 honor.

AB, average game 20 to 25 minutes, can be longer can be much shorter. Horde queue 20 mins, alliance about 2 minutes. Available honor is 2k bonus honor for the winners, and average 800 bonus for the loser – hk honor is easily 2k a game average. Result based on a 50/50 win rate is Horde can do 1.5 ABs an hour for at 3400 average honor per AB = 5100 honor per hour. Alliance can do 2.5 ABs per hour for 8500 honor per hour. Honor per lockout is the same for each team at 3400, with alliance doing all 30 lockouts in 12 hours for 102,000 honor and Horde maxing out at 27 lockouts in 18 hours for 91,800 honor.

WSG – Games last 10 to 15 minutes on average, Horde have a 20 minute queue, Alliance 2 minutes. Available honor based on a 50/50 win rate is 600 bonus honor for the winner and average 200 bonus honor for the loser. HK honor I’d say 1500 average per game. Horde can get in, lets say 2 games per hour at 1900 per game, or 3800 honor per hour. Alliance can get 7600 honor per hour (4 games an hour). Honor per lockout is the same with Alliance burning through 30 lockouts in 7.5 hours for 57,000 honor and Horde burning 30 lockouts in 15 hours for the same 57,000 honor.

So, because the ranking system rewards based on honor earned relative to the other players on your faction and server, you can maybe see that other than rep reward goals, Alliance pvp rankers will only be in AB. They get the most honor per lockout and will be done grinding their max possible daily honor in 12 hours. Horde, however have to grind for much longer to burn their 30 lockouts. The meta shifts entirely to AB, with the highest average honor per lockout – with AV still worth it for Horde, provided their queue pops, but WSG probably entirely ignored by rankers.

Horde ques, during peak times, for ab and wsg, have been as low as 2 mins due to the sheer amount of premades queing. BG premade lock outs, would greatly improve lvl 60 pvp across the board. IMO lockouts for bgs should only apply to group queing, and should be lower than 30 bgs. If you want the highest ranks, you should be forced to solo que after you cap for the day. Your math does not reflect current data, how regularly do you solo que?

Are you suggesting this change? Or is this sarcasm, based on distorting a rule change into a “has determined that” theory?

Last time I checked, NO player “has to sit in BGs for 12 hours a day”. But if they do, I definitley support a change so that they don’t “have to” any more.

If alliance can only do 1 per day that means horde just don’t get to do AV. Youd have a sub 10% chance of actually getting a game on any given day.

Yes, please blizzard. Because we are just going to start making sweeping restrictions and changes to Classic. Please apply this change to battlegrounds as well. To stop the robots of course. And to make it a fair restriction on pvp and pve players.

Well if we are to make instances and BG work in similar fashion - we need to implement a deserter debuff for leaving / resetting a dungeon without having cleared it.
15min debuff preventing from reseting or joining a different instance before it is over.

That way with a 10min clear desired content + 15min clear debuff we have 25min/instance.
That 30 limit now means minimum 12h of real time - I’m sure not a lot of peeps who are not botting will complain about that !

Most instances take over 30 min time I checked. Find a group and play the game instead of fast forwarding everything. Ive farmed 18k gold and I still don’t hit these caps. Take some breaks.

I can’t even do 1 AV per day. The queue is so ridiculous that I always end up missing it because I am busy or forget I’m in the queue.

Sorry mam you will just have to be the minority here, keep playing and adapt or find another game hur hur. My way of playing the game is the right way and blizzord NEVER makes mistakes. None of their updates have ever been reverted simply due to being stupid.

I’d go so far as to say no horde player would even be able to hit the lockout, as the alliance would have theirs burned and would stop queuing for the day long before the horde got theirs in.

In a sense the 5 per cap is the deserter debuff.

It is not since you can easily bypass it by running two different dungeons. Say SM Cat + Arm. Now if you had to clear said dungeons before entering the second one, yes it would.

30 bgs per day please. There is botters and exploiters in bgs as well

That would be a great change from the grind fest that ranking is.

SM Cat & Arm are not separate dungeons. Nor are the Dire Mauls. Each one is a wing of the same dungeon. BRD and SM are different dungeons and each a unique lockout that counts towards the 5.

1 AV allowed per person, per account, 15 WSG, and 15 AB. This would cut down massively on botting, and ‘‘exploitable behavior’’ Such as premading. And would only affect a hardcore minority of players. In addition to these limitations cutting down on exploitable behavior and botting, it would improve the quality of the game, and convince players to go outside once a day, or do something else in-game, such as farming black lotus.
