I’m on Mankrik which is also high pop, but based on what you’re saying it seems your routes are either bad, or you’re sticking to guides, if you’re honest there’s no way that’s all you got from 1 hour of farming so here’s some general tips to try as a fellow miner.
Do find a route and adjust it, you should by now have a feel for where people are and at what times, go opposite direction of them or tighten the route to cover as many nodes as possible and maintain a circle.
Sometimes 5-7am is ideal one 1 realm but not ideal on another, for instance Mankrik has a mostly super late night west coast crowd despite being east so late night and prime time is hard, but early AM is good, while I was on Atiesh it was bad and better to do late at night or mid day.
Keeping 2 in mind, try different times of day, there may come a window you can do that will be YOUR window to farm, this is the nature of High pop realms, everyone has a behavior pattern they follow for their farming, I’m an engineer and I see 3 other engineers in their copters on Nagrand at X time so I avoid Nagrand at that hour.
Stay the hell out of Nagrand, it’s the most overfarmed place as almost every damn guide tells you to go there, if your target is both adamantite and fel iron then Terrokar will be fine doing circles, if it’s a problem then you’ll have to get creative with a partial zone here and a partial there, if you have epic blades edge will still suck but probably be the least farmed zone.
Patience, you need to find YOUR path for farming, once you figure it out BAM, you’re swimming in ore.
I’m sorry but this is just nuts. I just flew over the ogres above aldor rise. There is literally 15 people I counted hoping for a shot at a mana thistle. THe forest is similarly packed. The other two mana thistle spots are the same all hours of the day. There is a raid worth of mages and hunters on elemental plateu. The fires in SMV have someone standing within range of every spawn, just standing there.
These “guides” are half the reason for the problem. No one has to think for themselves. A couple weeks ago you could have a nice farming spot and some “guide” would get posted on youtube and 15m later 20 hunters with pigs that have asian characters for names show up and have sat there ever since.

In an effort for perspective. I rode a lvl 60 from shatt to the shadow alter in SMV to make cloth and never aggroed a mob because there weren’t any!

You always have a solution, usually a smart answer, sometimes a decent one. But you don’t think other players can have different experiences with stuff.
You said you got all that stuff in an hour and he said he got what he got in his farm time. Who’s to say both of you aren’t right? Maybe he’s experiencing a problem on his server you aren’t.
