I need the ability to continuously make portioned steak until I run out of mats instead of 1000 basically beef at a time.

I don’t know what to tell you, but the few times I have done mass cooking I do find it annoying how often it stops. I haven’t looked into it much but I think it’s based on the stack count. I think it’s definitely unintended and would be much smoother if it just allowed you to keep cooking until your mats ran out.

Given the wide range of things it drops off of… I’d say it’s just generic edible flesh because Blizzard didn’t want us to hunt down 50 kinds of meat.

If you’re making steak you should use the cinderbee meat instead because you also get honeycomb which is a multi craft reagent so you end up with a crap ton more beledar’s bounty

The current devs write at a 5th grade level and, having recently discovered the Miracle Naming Cure-all that is alliteration, have been overusing it on everything since Dragonflight, possibly earlier.
See also: that Kobold going up to the Trading Post NPCs and asking if they have “shinnies”. Proofreading is hard.
