I started farming mount a few years ago. Got most of what i wanted then moved to dungeons. Got a all the 1 a day attempt mounts and went on to the 1%. Got a few and moved to bfa for the mummified raptor the mount i really want as a troll fanatic.
500 attempts with 20 chars. Over the span of a 2 years. When will this nightmare end. Looking up the probability i would get it says 490 so im over.
Ive taken breaks but coming back feels rough. Whats the longest uve tried for a 1% dungeon mount?

I did around 1200 attempts or something like that for a mount that is roughly a 1 in 100 drop. Most people I know got it within the first dozen or so kills.
Really it’s up to your tenacity and drive.

I got lucky with Invincible and got it on my 13th try with only 1 character. When the OP mentions dungeon mount, I think he is talking about Deathchargers reins, which took me too many to count.
The Farmer, or There and Back Again
I feel like a lot of these complaints are blown out of proportion. Like the longest ive ever had to farm for a mount was maybe 80 runs in the BC when it first came out.
I got the raptor i think at about 60 tries.
I really do think that mounts also have a type of bad luck protection that progresses differently from gear progression. I find that special holidays including my birthday play a roll too, because thats when i get my 1% drops.
In terms of 1%ers I think itd likely be Invincible around 315 kills, but as for others. I just went over 500 kills in Underrot and nearing 4000 kills for Timereaver.
I still don’t have Invincible or Mimiron’s head. I gave up after SL expansion and I’ve been playing since Vanilla. Got plenty of the other corny looking 1% mounts I DIDNT want though lol

I think you’ve just been getting lucky ngl. Or rather lots of others are unlucky. Not for mounts, but I had over 164 runs on the red scythe from antorus before I got it. I’ve seen it drop maybe 10 times, never for me.

maybe you’ll get it in 539 attempnts, but now what? put it into your collection and go farm another 1% mount that will take another 500 attempnts

As someone with almost 1000 mounts, the thing that truly sucks about this truthful statement is that all of the joy, elation, and love for the game is just… gone on sub-1% drop rates.
There is no joy or happiness. Just RELIEF that it’s over.
If it were up to me, every mob/boss that drops a pet/toy/ mount would NEVER be lower than 1%, and would also drop a token of some sort. Once you’ve collect 100 of those tokens, you can just buy the item.
After 100 attempts, you’ve earned it. If it happens to drop before then, so be it! gg!
The current system just is not fun.

For me I don’t think I’ve gone over 200 attempts for what I’ve farmed when it comes to dungeon mounts.
Pro Tip: Ulduar Timewalking quest to kill Yogg-Sarron the chest you get from the quest has a roughly 25% chance to drop Invincible, Mimiron’s Head, or Infinite Timereaver and won’t drop a duplicate. (TBC has the Hawkstrider from Magisters Terrace and Ashes of Al’ar and the Infinite Timereaver, Cata has the Firelands and Dragon Soul mounts).
So if you have an alt army of max level characters look for skip groups for the final boss!
the rng doesnt really care if you ran it 500 times. it’s like if you ran it for the first time everytime.

I put in somewhere over 4000 attempts on Sha of Anger… dozens of alts, farmed coins for basically every attempt… finally got the mount in 2020 (7+ years of farming), and then a couple years later they had the Dracythyr screw up and now anyone who wants it has it.
Talk about losing a good portion of the wind in my sails… I’ve basically given up on caring too much about most collecting in the game, at least partially because of nonsense like that.
There was a period of time where I really wanted the Headless Horseman mount. I’d run the dungeon on as many characters as I could, trying to maximize my chance of seeing that elusive drop before the holiday drop changes.
Much later after I gave up hope on seeing the thing and thinking of moving on, I just up and get it. I’m like, “Oh. That’s neat.”
I don’t even use the thing, it’s just…there. Waiting patiently.
There is no way it’s a 25% chance. I’ve ran 13 alts through there the last two times it was up and nothing.
Would it make you feel better if I told you it took me like 5 years to get the onyxia mount, and I’m pretty sure I’ll never get Mimi’s head?
