I think this is the main issue. Silvermoon being a Horde city that attacks the Alliance makes sense story wise, and this isn’t the reason people are (rightfully) upset. It’s the fact that 50% of the playerbase will only have access to 80%* of the new content coming in the next expansion, and there’s no compensation.
If the Alliance would also get a massive city that has a small sanctuary for both factions, then this would be okay. But that’s not the case here. Silvermoon is a huge selling point for the expansion, and the Alliance will not be able to experience most of it. This is rightfully upsetting.
I’ve seen “Well, you can always create a horde character” posts, but those are completely missing the point. I want my main (which is Alliance) to also experience the city, not just create a 2nd hand character I don’t bother playing just to be able to walk around in the city.
*numbers made up, but it’s to make a point.

You’re assuming several things:
- Half of the playerbase is Alliance, the other half Horde.
- People play either one or the other.
It would surprise me if a vast majority isn’t playing both sides.

I wouldnt care if Silvermoon stayed Horde if it wasn’t supposed to be the main city hub of the expansion.

Oh, brother, here we go. Another tired thread. The entire expansion’s content doesn’t revolve around Silvermoon. Alliance should not be allowed to walk around in a horde city. That is that. Factions are foundational to the IP after 30+ years. If you or others don’t like it, then reroll or quit. Those are your options, but making more pointless threads about the topic isn’t going to get anywhere.
It’s been decided. Let it go.

Because Blizzard never changed their mind based on player feedback before.

All essential vendors will be available, I’m sure. If you want to go sight-seeing, just roll something on the Horde.

They have and they typically listen to the wrong people when they do that.
The Horde players, especially belf players, are in the right. There is no debate to be had. If you don’t like it, then vouch for your own hub but we’re not making Silvermoon 100% neutral, you already stole skin and hair colors, that was enough a few years ago.

“I’m right, you’re wrong”… are you five?

No the Horde are not in the right and maybe Blizzard will change their mind in all this. We still have a beta afterall.

Says the Blood Elf who completely missed the point.
I don’t care about the fact that Silvermoon is hostile to Alliance. I care about the fact that Alliance players are disadvantaged because Blizzard chose Silvermoon as the main hub. What part of that is difficult to understand?

No but the Alliance players and their incessant whining over this topic have to be 5. Suddenly factions only matter when you can’t waltz around a horde city? Get a grip.

Nobody would care about any city in Midnight Expansion. Why? Becoz everybody would be busy doing their business on their respective Housing.

Missed the point again. It’s not about not being able to walk around a Horde city. It’s about Blizzard choosing a Horde city as the main hub in the first place, preventing half of the playerbase from experiencing all the expansion has to offer.

Can we lock the horde from Bal’amath too? They literally burned our last tree down because some undead ghoul told them to.
Seems weird we can’t enter silvermoon but the race that got their entire city destroyed is cool with undead walking around…

The hub city is not ‘content’ unless you’re extremely dedicated to second-monitor running laps around the city while waiting in queue or something.
It’s just more elves over there, I’m not missing out on anything.

I would love for the Alliance to have its own capital for the expac. Further more Bel’ameth says hello considering horde helped burn down Teldrassil yet are freely allowed to walk around.
It’s contradictory.

I would probably wait until beta to see what it’s actually like in-game before jumping to any conclusions.
I still remember when Blizzard talked about Bladespire Fortress and Temple of Karabor being big hub cities for players in WoD and we all know how THAT turned out…

Could I get some numbers on how a portion of the city is 20% of expansion content?

Holly literally said that they decided to keep part of the city Horde only based on player feedback.

There likely won’t be new content you’ll miss in our area of the city. Just like there’s not with you having no access to the city as it is now.
