I’m convinced that blizzard has a hidden buff/debuff to keep you at a 50% win rate in arena. I believe the damage/healing numbers are padded. No, I don’t believe their match-making system is THAT good that it keeps you at 50% win rate. When you get absolutely wrecked by a 1700 team, just know that it wasn’t your turn to win.

But, that is exactly how MMR works. The more you win or lose in a row, the more aggressive the rating change happens. They want to place you against teams that of similar ability. You can cheese it some by playing with low cr/mmr players in the hopes of easier wins, but then you get less points, obviously.
There is no hidden buff or debuff. IF there was, you could… you know… see it with any damage meter pretty easily.

That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying you can face a team, and win without much effort, then lose a couple games later vs the same exact players as if you didn’t stand a chance.
You can’t tell me it’s just a coincidence. (FoM may not apply)

This would surface in the form of some type of data. That’s really all there is to it. Don’t over complicate it for no reason.
The only thing it MAY do is place you against comps that have a high win rate vs the comp you’re running. Unless you can explain exactly what this buff is and isn’t doing though, it’s really pointless to conjecture that one exists.
I believe the numbers are padded. It’s hard to prove because what does a smite actually hit for? It’s not a set number. There are so many stats/traits that can change the numbers.
Maybe I’m too drunk and imagining it, but it seems like there are a lot of players with 50% win rate out there.
PS: To the guy that said inc petkick with 90% win rate; I can link some screenshots/vids of us beating him in legion @2300 mmr. I’m not bragging or claiming to be good at this game at all. I just don’t enjoy destroying a team or getting wrecked by that same team as if its by random chance.

That’s not what coincidence means… and perhaps if the same team just smoke checked you, they learned from their mistakes and played better lol. It’s absurd to think there’s some smart system in place to subtlety change certain skills (only ones with ambiguous values) in order to influence wins. I mean, it would still mean that playing better would still net you the win as someone in cc still does 0 damage no matter how buffed they are.
I feel dumb even explaining this to be honest lol.
I would just like to point out that your current 2s is exactly at 50% win rate.

I know it is. But I also know when I lose, why I lose lol. I’m not subjected to a super powered class every other match :P. Not to mention mmr is designed to ideally put you at an exact equal playing field. Couple that with the Rock Paper Scissors style comps like to follow and it’s conceivable. I queue into any class but a dk and I feel pretty good about winning. Unfortunately, half the teams seem to be dks.

Petkick intentionally dodges anything or anyone that can beat him consistently. His win rate is artificial.

Every time I’m about to break 1800 we face pro teams and lose like 5 in a row back down to 1700 and then work our way back up and soon as we get close again BOOM inc pro players and we back to back down again.

I think it might have something to do with the professional gamers and YouTubers constantly tanking MMR or just boosting and creating new characters so they can make content online. As they farm everyone at low rating.
I mean honestly. Some people’s accounts like xar, baj, Ven, Dilly should be locked in at a certain rating and not even allowed to play against anyone below like 2600 lol.
I have had some suspicions of this too. Seems like all of a sudden heals don’t heal and damage does not damage. I would not doubt it one bit with the model of success being measured with time played. Curious if someone would actually keep logs on this sort of thing. Probably would not matter to blizzard if they did and proved it. The Git Gud folks would chime in and offer their coaching or carrying services.

but I know how you feel. You get close to a milestone and suddenly you face a team that no one will die and all your burst adds up to nothing
Nature of the ladder tho is if you wanna climb you play something absurdly broken and abuse it or you simply have to be better and win game after game in a row.
LFG is honestly a cesspool, especially players that will leave instantly if you suggest voicechat and would rather overlap CC/Defensives blame the healer or say the dps that was being focused didnt do enough damage (instead of looking for a window to CC and kill and jus survive til that window opens)
I’ve farmed you about 20-30 wins in a row while you qued a counter comp into me does that count as dodging?
