It’s a 3 year time skip from the end of SL to this past Tuesday. As for the sword… There is no sword in Silithus so no clue what you’re talking about.

What is Sword?
After the Jailer took a bite out of Azeroth’s soul and the old gods are dead, maybe we can turn it into a pacemaker? 
have the gnomes and dwarves build a big hammer machine and drive it all the way in until we cant see it anymore. ez.
At the end of Legion, we sucked the eggnog out of the sword, so it became inert.
By the end of BfA, we stopped the bleeding from the wound.
Blizzard likely sees it as a concluded plotline.

It’s a landmark now, and there’s no real content to be had by forcing a “and then they mined it into dust” story in there somewhere.

DH’s if the case had a longer sentence. and our crime was going to the demon realm and killing demons.
since yeah…I didn’t even like this punishment. As I am not sure who is getting punished. souls waiting for years to be saved? they got screwed.
Each covenant scares up 500K people for a search and rescue, this was over in weeks really. souls suffer less.
and they have the 500K. they have people who have died since the dawn of time really. bastion should have been down there for feeding the stream at the least really.
