5% DH Buff

Everyone seems to be under the impression that DH got a 5% buff a couple weeks ago with hotfix.

I just want to clarify this never made it to the live servers. It was mentioned in a pre hotfix note but never made it live.

Stop referencing it in posts and threads.
“5% Did not fix us” etc.

I cringe everytime I see it.

Once again.

5% DH buff never made it to live servers.

Thanks.

Yada Yada.

Actually it did but wasn’t included in the second round of patch notes which only included things that weren’t mentioned in the first round of patch notes. So there were two sets of patch notes, both got implemented

Source please?

Sorry but this was being discussed around the time the buff happened, I’m trying to find the source post but looking back that far isn’t all that easy. But yes, it was a topic of discussion that our 5% buff would still be included even though it wasn’t listed in the second round of changes. Not like 5% is enough anyway lol, gg Blizz always caving to the crybabies

We got 5% I heard something a long the lines of another 5% which I dont see that at all…

Currently we would need a 10% ST buff to hit mid tier. Honestly our lack of raid/group utility we should get an over all damage increase but I’d be thrilled with a single target buff.

DH has pretty decent utility.

-5% bonus to all magic damage
-Darkness is a great cooldown for raids and dungeons.
-Nigh unparalleled mobility
-Stealth detection (niche in pve, but welcome where it can be applied, like finding the assassins in castle nathria after they vanish)
-Instant cast ranged CC on demons/beasts/humanoids
-Blur can be used to abuse mechanics that can be dodged, and has a short cooldown. IE: first boss of sanguine depths. It can also be used to tank briefly if the tank falls down.
-AoE stun
-Talent into a slow/snare or a ST stun
-Talent into an immunity.
-Offensive dispel

This is why i don’t mind being middle pack. DH doesn’t need to be on top, it’s not a turret, it can be useful in other ways. It just needs, at least, competitive middling dps, because we only have one dps spec. If not also a survivability boost.

Response to each point

-5% bonus to all magic damage - our one and only truly useful group utility

-Darkness is a great cooldown for raids and dungeons. - terrible and unreliable in dungeons and raid, small area that’s offers a small chance to not take damage.

-Nigh unparalleled mobility - not group utility and the only reason most people play the class.

-Stealth detection (niche in pve, but welcome where it can be applied, like finding the assassins in castle nathria after they vanish) - useless in pve, assassins appear before going stealth and if you’re having issues with raid trash you’re trash.

-Instant cast ranged CC on demons/beasts/humanoids - great except a lot of classes bring the same without the mob type restriction and minute long CD.

-Blur can be used to abuse mechanics that can be dodged, and has a short cooldown. IE: first boss of sanguine depths. It can also be used to tank briefly if the tank falls down. - Almost all dps have a strong defensive CD.

-AoE stun - useful but very short duration

-Talent into a slow/snare or a ST stun - yeah we have to choose most classes get both base line.

-Talent into an immunity - not immunity 100% damage reduction. Can’t clear stuff like stasis traps and get stunned and snared though it.

-Offensive dispel - useful but not as strong as priest or shaman.

If you truly think that Demon Hunter brings any truly useful group utility you need to take some time to look at other classes utility. We are a token class in most situations for the 5% magic buff and most groups would prefer you tank for that.

Well, 5% buff on a class 20% behind any dps spec its not that biggie

After last round of Fury warrior buff now my warrior does way more damage than my DH and is more fun to play with the different abilities. DH needs more a damage buff. The only thing that makes DH better than my warrior is the fact it have a better tanking spec.

Almost everything you listed really isn’t utility in raid except the 5% damage increase. I will add one thing Darkness is pretty bad, would be better if it was 20% damage reduction. Right now if I pop it on a raid killing ability and everybody stacks in it 8 out of the 10 people who stacked will die. :face_vomiting:

It’s good for pulsing damage. Not one big hit. There’s plenty of pulsing or ticking damage happening in all forms of content.

It is group utility, as you can use a DH to take care of mechanics without them losing much uptime on an encounter. Whereas, if you took a class like a DK and had them do the same, they’d lose a lot of damage, and they would take a lot longer handling the mechanic, which usually tend to be time sensitive anyway.

That was one example. There are also plenty of stealthed mobs in M+ you can snuff out for your group. It’s niche.

Nearly every single CC in the game has such enemy type limitations, and if they don’t have a cooldown, they have a cast time. The only CC’s without type limitations are Fear, Blind, Paralysis, and Freezing Trap, and one of those 4 is a liability in PvE content.

Yes, but Blur is on a 1 minute CD (less with conduit) and can be used to cheese mechanics, unlike a straight damage reduction cooldown

Most classes do not, in fact, get a ranged stun and ranged 3 target snare baseline.

Still more than most classes get. There are only 2 true immunities in the game, and the rest have some sort of limitation.

Does it have to be? It’s still useful. Priests and shaman have to burn mana for theirs, we don’t have mana to burn, therefor we get a cooldown. Also, if you’re a blood elf demon hunter you have an uncapped offensive mass dispel.

If only ppl brought Havoc DH to HoA groups. Shards of Halkias’ pulsing attack is hard to heal for me, and Lord Chamberlain’s Ritual of Woe is even harder to heal.

I used it for the first ritual of woe on Chamberlain and our healer was very thankful for it.

If you played Ally, you would be an instant invite to my groups

You’re an awesome DPS, man. Often times, DPS don’t use their full kit, and I get very stressed because of it.

There’s a lot more pressure for DH to be useful in other ways, now that the damage is so low. So i make sure to do literally everything i can to make an encounter go better.

So that’s why underpowered DPS tend to be better players. Interesting.

There are two lists of hotfixes from 9.0.2 patch, one of them doesn’t have the 5% buff but the other one does. The one with the DH buff is on December 11th. Is that what you are referring to?

The problem with your reasoning is that there are classes that have the same tool kit or better that deal substantial more damage. Even if we call darkness “decent” which it barely can qualify for.

Hunter’s druids and monks have equal mobility to us, druid and hunter can utilize theirs with even less impact to their dps. Honestly mages are extremely mobile now.

DKs offer a much better raid plus soak.

I’m not going to argue the stealth detection because it’s just stupid, there’s no random stealth pats that you won’t know where they are. It has no use in pve.

Your point on the cc is my point there are other better options that can be used better by classes that do more damage.

Please tell me what mechanics you’re currently cheesing with Blur.

Let’s see how many i can name without having to actually research for stuns with slow. Paladin, hunter, warlock, rogue, shaman, warrior. I’m sure more class have it, mages probably have something i don’t know about off hand. Druid have multiple lock downs.

Pally, hunter, mage, and rogue can avoid 100% of everything. There’s probably some i don’t know about.

Shadow and dps shaman don’t worry about mana and when we’re talking about a reason to take a class that does 15% lower damage yeah you need something that is superior to other classes that’s the problem.

So to reiterate, while we’re not useless there is nothing that would make a group want s demon hunter over another class besides our 5% magic damage debuff.

My overall point is that people are saying havoc should be in the top dps range because it “has no utility” when it very clearly does.

People were practically frothing at the mouth over all of DH’s utility an expansion ago, and the only thing that was lost since then was the blade dance dodge.

Havoc has never been a top dps pick for raids. It’s been hovering around the middle since its inception up until now.
