4th Spec - Newplayer/Easy Mode specs

I think the game is very overwhelming for new players, and even for players who have been playing for a while and come back from a long break. I see a lot of discussion about new specs being added to classes. What if new specs were added but intended as ‘Easy Mode’ specializations, with simple rotations and only 4-6 abilities to worry about? They could tune the other specializations to do more DPS or have more utility, but the easy mode specs would still be able to perform well but maybe not -as- well.

I see a lot of people telling new players to play BM Hunter, but what if you don’t want to play a Hunter?

What if every class had an ‘easy mode’ specialization?

I can’t speak for every class, but don’t most already have passive talent options that provide a simpler rotation in exchange for less DPS? That sounds like what you are describing, it’s just not an “official” option.

I thought there’s an entry-build for each spec tree provided(?)

Actually, I think it’s the opposite.

No matter which path you choose on the talent trees, there is no wrong answer. It might look intimidating at first, but when new players start noticing the difference, I’m sure they’ll have that “good feel” experience.

If not, they could choose another class. The flexibility is grand for this expansion.

Honestly most classes have a significant easier spec to play at like 90% capacity.

I was gonna list them but people would get very upset if their spec was on the list so just think for a minute yourself what is needed to be 90% as effective and if it is really that hard…

Do we really need a “4th spec”? Can’t this be handled via the talent trees themselves? Passive abilities instead of active abilities that make things “easier” but do less damage or healing?

ya lets make a 4th spec where ur a magical vegatable and the game plays itself while you watch.

I think the game is as simple as you want it to be.
The only issue I think new players have is that they don’t read.
If you sit down and read what abilities and specs do what it’s really not complicated.

I think people forget that you don’t NEED to use every ability.
I don’t think this game needs any more dumbing down tbh.

It would be a massive waste of time and resources to make training wheel specs for people who can’t be bothered to learn their rotations, as well as a massive disservice to people who want the most asked-for fourth spec ideas like shaman tanks and ranged paladins. If someone levels a character from 1-70 and doesn’t focus on developing the skills to play it properly, that’s on them, but the game is now so easy to learn how to play that there’s really no need for something that makes it even easier.

Yes. Been lobbying for this for a long time. Blizzard needs to see that the “elite gamers” who keep asking for things to be more complicated are causing the wow community to shrink. If the game keeps getting more and more new play unfriendly, it will only continue to slowly die.

Accommodating new players will do a lot of good in bringing in money for development and extending the life of the game.

New players can already talent into passives to cut down their rotations.

Maybe the problem is people who’ve been playing and don’t even understand how they can adjust their playstyles.

How do we have so many of these threads when Hunter and DH exist?

How can we have so many comments like yours that clearly have no idea what the DH rotation even is.

Btw 1-2 specs isn’t the same as having a spec for every class. Y’all are so against making things easier for other people it’s wild.

Okay. What streamer started this stupid bandwagon?

I’m getting real tired of this crap. Pick passives if you want brain dead gameplay. Or use Hekili.

And can we please use an ounce of logic and common sense? Even Balance only has 5-6 main rotation buttons. Geebus.

It’s strange how much you don’t get it. Like everyone else is just an NPC.

Here’s our answer to that, so you understand: No.

No, we won’t just “pick passives.” There is no class/spec that comes even within 10% of the optimal spec using passives. No, we don’t want to have to use hekili just to do decent dps.

Just no. And it isn’t your place to tell the rest of us what we want or what we’ll have to settle for.

WE WANT MORE SIMPLE ROTATION SPECS. We aren’t asking YOU. We’re asking Blizzard and we’re explaining to them why we want it, how it’ll help Blizzard, and how it doesn’t take ANYTHING away from you bozos who come on here and tell us “no.”

Also: unlike some of you, most of us don’t watch streamers and have the ability to form our own opinions. Takes and opinions can come from places other than streamers. You should try it sometime.

Tbh optimal talents are even more of a dps lose if you use them wrong.

If you are new, there are definitely passive builds you can use. Yes it is a dps lose, but its not a crazy amount.

If you arent running progression or mid yo high keys, run what you want. You dont have to min/max, especially if you are learning.

Maybe one day everyone can log in and press that single “I Win” button and you get everything you want

There is but doesn’t mean it’s easy

fury warrior is easy
shadow priest is easy
devastation evoker is easy
elemental shaman is easy
fire mage is easy
assassination rogue is easy

take your pick, there’s easy for every playstyle.

I’m a returning player … an OLD returning player. At first I couldn’t get to my previous characters because I’d forgotten all the Battlenet account info. But thanks to a VERY helpful “blue” on the forums, I managed to guess correctly my old login and password for both accounts. In the meantime, I created new characters and started playing again.

Even with the new talent trees, new rotations (new single-target and multi-target rotations), and re-learning how to move, how to keybind, etc., etc., etc., I rather quickly got a Horde hunter to 60. This Alliance hunter is progressing nicely as is my Alliance paladin. (Yes, I play BOTH factions because I don’t like knowing only one side of a story.)

Once I’m comfortable with the new systems and processes, I’ll drag my previous characters out of mothballs and start running them up. “Easy mode” is very subjective; what might seem like an easy mode to a new player can be extremely difficult for another. Like me … eyesight, hand-and-eye coordination aren’t the same as they used to be, along with other problems that develop as one ages.

So “easy” vs “hard” is as simple as how much time and effort are you willing to invest to learn what you need in order to play the game? What value do you place on being entertained by a video game? Yes, very subjective; and all players have to answer those questions for themselves.
