49" monitor?

Samsung makes this ultra-wide gaming monitor. A monster 49" curved behemoth.

My question is. Can WoW stretch that far? Lol

I’m no tech guy by any means… But I’d love to play WoW on that beast at the highest resolution possible.

Beautiful!

Any advice?

I have seen that monitor, and to me it looks like it would give you great side to side view but because of how long it is it would probably look squashed because of the height. It would be a perspective thing. I think looking it up on youtube you might be able to find some reviews about it from the gaming people there. I know there are guys that test out the vid cards and stuff. Try Linustechtips.

I’ve seen reviews on it. I just don’t know if I need a super computer to power it

Aspect ratio is basically twice as wide as a normal screen, 32:9 instead of 16:9
Resolution may be your biggest issue, having a card that can drive a 5120x1440 display at its highest resolution.

For instance, it seems to be designed to take advantage of AMD Free sync. The Samsung C49RG90 has the Display Port and this is essential for NVIDIA cards to work with AMD FreeSync. One test I saw used a RTX2060 and it could drive 80 FPS, about two thirds of the screens max refresh.

Before you sink that much money into the monitor, make sure your video card is up to driving it.

I got a 32 inch HP 2k freesync and it looks amazing. I got it for 200 bucks on sale and sold my 27 inch Samsung curved for 150. I looked at those huge widescreen and it was not for me along with the price tag it came with.

I feel like NVIDIA really dropped the ball by not going with NSync.

I wish I knew more about computers :frowning:

Save your money and buy a tv from walmart. Thats what i did. Got one for 120$ 32 incher. Samsung curved monitor was like 200 bucks. Im too poor for dat

Watched some videos of them. They look really good for split screen use.

I feel like there may be consequences. the UI might not spread that far and you’ll be able to see all the stuff happening in the studio while they’re filming. There’ll be a gnome eating donuts and a troll with a boom mic.

My personal opinion is WoW is too old of a game to really warrant a 49" monitor of that type.

Can it work? Sure.
Will there be some UI issues? I expect so.
But would I buy such a monitor if WoW (or any game this aged) was my primary video gaming experience? No.

But if its your personal preference. Go for it! Just be sure our graphics card and adequately deal with it.

I found this

I would NEVER buy a 49 inch monitor. I went with a ASUS ROG Swift PG248Q 24” G-Sync and 180HZ monitor. Quite expensive, but so worth

The day i game on a TV, is literally never

Yes it will stretch, but very few games support it so if you go with that prepare for black bars on most games.

34” 21:9 monitors are the way IMO OP. I cannot go back. Don’t bother with TVs. If you have the $$ and the pc to run it look into a 34” 1440p 144hz monitor

Almost all new games support 21:9. And honestly I’d never go back to normal monitors after using an ultrawide.

This will cost about $1000 easily. And honestly, not even worth

Well to you maybe. i wouldnt spend $100 on a anything less than a 27" but to each their own. To me it was worth every cent which is also why i said

Quality comes at a cost
