48 hour deserter debuff

Lmao. I did NOT expect that. :joy:

I 100% agree that it makes bgs much worse when 1/5 of your team bails after the first team fight.
Last night I won a WG offense after we lost the first team fight and 1/3 of our team bailed out. We came back retook SR and won within a couple minutes.
But earlier today I join a WG offense in progress. Spawn behind BT and there is about 13 alliance there, 3 horde run in. 3, and only one of the 13 people help me fight. The rest either stood there afk or ran to the outskirts of BT.
Why should I stay in this bg? My team is obviously not trying to play, and punishing me is just gonna make me do something else, not que or regret leaving.

Wow. I thought this type of garbage was only happening in the Customer Support section of the forums, where everyone pretends they’re a CM/GM but always rely on crying on a specific panda’s shoulders when they get slammed by reality.

lmao that’s hilarious! sounds like me pre-game.

I think it should double every time you leave a BG and be account wide, maybe reset it for new seasons.

But yeah, like Kennie said premades should definitely be addressed first.

It should Eilane.

But will it?

Well, I am sorta optimistic, whereas before I was sorta not, the issue being present for so long.

Over in Customer Support, if one reads those now and then, there have been a number of recent posts from players claiming to have no idea why they were suspended, it turning out Blizz actioned them for being AFK in BG’s. Really? Yep really, confirmed by the Blues there.

Prolly a good idea to not afk a ton as they have the metrics to look at that and do action it. Very nice. Guess those reports do end up working, but it takes time.

Now if this is happening, what else might they be looking at? I say that because I have not seen many: I have no idea what I did for this suspension! I am innocent! <== you afk a ton in BGs says the Blue.

So maybe things change. Blizz can be slow. But it is hard for the devs to miss the continuous feedback on this issue.

We’ll see.

We both know that’s not going to happen when your being stomped by a stacked premade. Random or Epic Battleground you don’t learn much if anything.

Just let the pugs scrap it out and leave the premades to fight themselves.

Just an FYI my last two battlegrounds were start 40vs20 because some enemy communities dropping queues to not face another premade…

My first Epic today was facing a premade. We were all pugs. Correction my last two Epics today have been facing premades. Both of which I afk’d out of and currently queued for another Epic hoping for a pug vs pug game and there is nothing you can do about it

I can see them doing this if the person is just sitting AFK while remaining in the BG (like a bot program or just tabbed out moving to stay in the bg) but action against someone simply leaving to find a fair game ? dont think so

I think they should get rid of the debuff completely. Blizzard can’t fix map exploits, can’t stop third party queue syncing addons, can’t stop queue dodgers from shorting teams of half their roster…they can’t stop anything. Imagine a FPS that punished people for leaving a game full of aimbotters that the developer can’t seem to get a handle on…

Blizzard made leaving the more efficient option. If you are playing solo you are going to have a negative winrate, sticking around for every loss is a massive waste of time for almost no “reward”.

The disparity in honor/conquest earned from a win vs a loss means a loss is a mistake, the correct choice is to leave.

Yeah, it sucks, but so do random battlegrounds right now. Punishing people more for not wanting to suffer this broken system does absolutely nothing to fix the broken system.

There was another today in CS for an AV afk’er grinding r14. Most of the ones I’ve seen seem to be for Classic.

But I don’t remember seeing a wave of these anytime recently, so something motivated Blizz.

I agree, they don’t action for leaving a BG and I doubt they will for normal play.

But leaving 14 of 20 BGs in a single day? I could see something done about that.

The Blues did mention a threshold they look for in the case of afkers and that those hit were way over that level. They mentioned half of the games a few times and they mentioned no dmg or heals. I don’t know what the threshold actually is and if there are other metrics, etc. That’s just what i remember from their posts.

I could see them, at some point, hitting repeat leavers just like they did with m+ and now with afkers.

All that said, who knows? Just a guess.

They said “over half of games” so I bet those people were actually AFKing in at least 60% of their matches.
I mean not only do they have to be AFK enough for Blizzard to care about suspending them, but they have to be AFK in enough matches that their team keeps reporting them for it.

Again, addressing a symptom instead of the root cause.

I’m sympathetic to what you’re saying, but 2 days is crazy. People don’t always leave because they’re rage quitting.

What if they were to “reward” the losing side with say, 1/5th the conquest and honor recieved from a win? Would that ease the feeling of it being a waste of their time in queue and the match just to get pitted against a Tich queue syncing team, and make it worth playing to the end of the match?

I don’t think it would. I can work 12 hours AND cap conquest on 2 characters in the same day crate farming. The currency earned in the content matters very little until it is increased to match the efficiency of crate farming. People may instead be incentivized to queue BGs for the hopes of a fun match. But if you don’t queue sync, fun matches can be hard to come by. Got to limit each team to one group who queue together per instance to increase the fun for normal folks so normal folks don’t feel the need to AFK or leave early. Catering to queue syncers with lazy matchmaking hasn’t helpled me in 20 years.

Not happening. Also, you can log out now, and don’t return.

Just getting rid of people being able to que together in randoms or to not be able to que sync would help with this quite a bit.
