I just de’d a 467 axe ( Axe of Shattered Dreams) and it turned into materials from The Burning Crusade. What the flock?
It’s still fundamentally a BC item, which means it always shards into BC shards, regardless of how its ilevel gets hepped up by timewalking.
It’s odd this is the first you’re hearing about it, since it’s been this way since literally the first day of the first Timewalking week.
If you’re not content with BC enchanting material, use item recovery to undo it and decide what you’d rather do with the weapon. But sharding it for current materials is absolutely off the table, by design.

So, not only do I have to regear for heroics, but I can’t even get the enchanting mats from the gear I wasted all that time grinding? Blizzard.
